Clever flag capture
« on: July 20, 2006, 03:57:14 pm »
I was on this ctf server running ctf_run, which was inventively name "Soldat Server", and i was on Bravo team with 3 over guys against an Alpha team with 2 players and i was surprised to see something this Alpha team was pulling off.

I was standing on the ledge in front of the Blue flag and one of the alpha guys came from above and starting throwing nades at me but they were over shooting just a bit and heading behind the flag so i shifted a bit so i didnt get any damage and started jetting towards the alpha guy shooting him on the way. I got him sorted just before the nades went off launching the blue flag right underneath me into the greasy hands of the other alpha that had ran through the middle section

now im not sure if it was planned or just a fluke but it was cool none the less

I sometimes do that on my own on Laos when I'm on alpha. Fly over the top, throw down some nades, and sometimes the explosion moves the bravo flag enough to the left to capture it and drop straight into the lower section.. I had a demo of it but I can't get it to work... it's from 1.3.

Yep, or push the flag away with an auto to a waiting team member. Sometimes I do wish teams were better organized in the public servers, since the times I've tried to throw or push a flag to a teammate, it always catches them off guard.  :P

Flamer works best for doing flag pushes. i've done it once or twice to pass to a teammate as last resort.

once i clusternaded the flag with all of em, and the flag got blasted back to our flag stand.

In places where flag is close to wall like ash I put it onder barrage of heavy fire to get it to bounce off the wall and come down to a more defensible position.
