Clever way of getting audio?
« on: April 14, 2008, 11:25:38 am »
I'm trying to record sounds from a Flash file. I've tried three recording programs so far; they basically do their job but the quality isn't too good and when the sound gets louder, the audio is heavily distorted. Every program so far has this problem. Is there a better program out there, or is there possibly a way of directly extracting the sound from the .swf itself? Thanks in advance.

Eh, I already did download the file. But what do you mean by converting?

Turn your output stream into an input and use any audio record software.

Well, you're not gonna get good audio from that.

Sigh. I have a decent program, but how can I change output to input?

Do you have a crappy sound card/motherboard? Or is it of good quality?

Two Options:
one, if your soundcard supports it:
-Go to volume-settings (speaker in the right bottom, or Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Volume -> Advanced)
-Options -> Properties -> Recording (maybe select a different device for recording)
-if you see anything like 'Stereo Mix' or 'What U Hear', select it.

two:
Download the demo of Virtual Audio Cable. Now you might be able to set your default audio device (Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio) to 'virtual cable 1' and still set the output device of your recording-program to your soundcard, so you can hear what you're doing. The demo does have a voice in it speaking at random intervals, but since you only want to download loose audio-snippets this shouldn't be a problem. Else*cough*isohunt*cough*.

Eh, integrated. Everything else works just fine but I'm having problems with BF2 - it starts clicking very loudly about an hour or so after I start a game. It seems to take longer to start clicking when I disable sounds, lower the quality and stuff. I just listen to music the time. Doesn't really matter to me. I rather listen to Crusing For Burgers on loop than explosions and gunfire, and usually I get spawnkilled by artillery and helicopters so most of the time I quit the game before the clickings start.

Well, I managed to extract the clips to single .swf files using Flash Compiler Trillix, which is better than nothing. I tried a .swf to audio program but it's crap. Gotta go to sleep now.

I tried that too but my anti-virus stops the installation. So, no.

Seeing as I can directly link the .swf files to my keyboard buttons, I can use Firefox to play them. This is just fine for me. But the problem is that Firefox maximizes every time I play a file. Is there a way to stop this? Also, Firefox opens up a new tab every time a file is opened. This isn't such a serious issue since it doesn't eat that much memory, but it'd be nice to know how to automatically open up to the current tab.

Well I just downloaded an .swf player. This fixes the second problem but the player still maximizes when I open up a file. Can this be fixed?

wait... a sec...

Never mind. There appears to be no command line documentation for the flash player.
