Mp3 player
« on: April 14, 2008, 07:53:58 pm »
My gay mp3 player is really shyte, mainly because every time I want to put files on/ take off files, I need to have a battery in it, and since I recently lost all but one of my AAA batteries, I have one left, is there any way I can put some shyte on my mp3 player without using the batteries? i.e software, take out memory part and slap on a usb plug.

It pisses the feck outta me but atm I can't afford to get a flash drive

Oh and something I didn't mention is that I only want it for the memory storage i.e usb flash drive.

It would really help if you told us exactly what kind of mp3 player this is. I highly doubt a program would help because the device needs the triple-A batteries for it to power on.

btw, you can get usb flash drives off ebay extremely cheaply.

Dude, you like totally read my mind [/sarcasm]
I just found out how cheap flash drives are, so i'll be buying one, and I thought maybe I could de-solder the memory parts so that they work like a normal usb flash drive, I have no idea why I thought a program would stop the need for a battery :/

Edit: Oh yeah, a little while ago I pulled apart the MP3 player, and I could photograph the chips if it would be possible to do what I wanted.

Yeah you see, I am in debt of $400 and i'm only 15...

Edit: and any way, I am not looking for a new MP3 player, I can use my phone for that, I want a flash drive, and want to salvage the 1 gb memory chip, instead of paying $12.

How did you get yourself into that situation?

But yes. Would you please tell us what kind of mp3 player you have? Maybe it's known for being able to be hacked into being used as a flash drive.

The more useful info you give us, the better.

Geez it has gone down in price, Anyway Link is the page on DSE website, it is an MP3 player branded by DSE, I have no idea if it is actually developed by DSE (I doubt it) most likely made by another company (wouldn't know which one) and then branded by DSE, I'll go rip it open again and take some photos quickly.

Ok here are the pictures:

Whole thing 1:

Whole thing 2:

Bit with what I think is the memory chip:

Wtf? I never said anything about not being able to afford AAA batteries, this MP3 player uses up the battery whenever it is on, even if it is plugged into a computer, and since I don't use it as an MP3 player, I want to make it a flash drive that doesn't need a battery...

but.. its just AAA batteries. It would be more of a bother to solder some shit off of your flash drive than to buy a bunch of batteries, or a new flash drive.

In NZ a new 2gb flash drive from Smiths City costs about $60 and a 1gb DSE mp3 player costs about $0. I would rather solder some shit onto the mp3 player to convert it into a flash drive.

Too risky for novices. And it whouldnt have fixed your problem in the way i hoped.
In NZ a new 2gb flash drive from Smiths City costs about $60 and a 1gb DSE mp3 player costs about $0. I would rather solder some bollocks onto the mp3 player to convert it into a flash drive.
You never tryd rebuilding stuff for fun? I whould rebuild the mp5 if i was him.
OT: mangled you should change your sig its released right?

I have some experience in the subject but i dont know how to build it to a flashdrive. I made a mp3 teddy bear. :)
