Pretty raw and basic, but what do you guys think?

As a trailer it is really bad. As a Soldat movie... not that good too. The frame rate was quite low and I think you were fighting bots, which isn't impressive at all.
But it's still nice effort, don't stop practicing and making videos ;)

The sniper rifle is *the* most boring weapon to watch. Don't make an entire trailer of unimpressive kills against bots with it. Try to show off the decent array of weapons Soldat has, against responsive players. Heck, if you have the time get some friends and choreograph something. Also, the "2 kinds of people" thing would have been lame even if the entire concept hadn't been done to death. Which it has.

That means a fail. :(

As for the frame rate: I have a single-core processor and 256 MB RAM, making recording very slow

As for friends: I can only create servers with 9999 ping

I give up.

I don't know if it works, but it is said that you can record a Soldat demo and then capture that demo to get higher framerate. Try it out, it might work.

I give up.
With a point of view like that you're not going to achieve anything.

Ok. There is one question you must ask yourself. If i watched this video would i want to play soldat? Well my answer is no why? Because the video is so dull it doesnt show soldats fast paced gameplay and the range of weapons modifications or any of soldats key parts.

Your an excellent soldat player use that to your advantage

My main limitation is my computer. It is slow, so fast paced action is impossible.

What frustrates the hell outta me is that I always succeed with anything non-soldat related, but anything which is soldat related I fail.

I mean watch this Hitman 2 trailer I made in a few minutes, it was a success:

So why not anything Soldat-related. Maybe it's just the community or else maybe I wasn't cut out for Soldat.

Actually, that hitman 2 trailer also is very bad. If I watched it, I would've thought that it's just regular FPS/TPP game, with only stealth elements being sniping :/

The trailer needs more adrenaline-pumping action. And less lame captions.

I agree the vids was nothing special, BUT it was worth watching to get ideas, and its really good that people actually send in their videos ;D I just think the winner must be better.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If you read the comments, I MADE a person actually buy Silent Assassin, and he loves it.

Well, he's a dumbass. Or wanted a normal FPS/TPP game, but was also happy with stealth action. And it seems you can't take constructive criticism.

Some of you guys need to encourage him with positive feedback. I don't think that will win but here's a good idea. Watch a couple soldat videos and bring all their ideas and incorporate it with your own. Inspiration is all you need. Remember, it's a trailer that generalizes soldat, not focusing on a player or clan. I know I'm not good at being a video editor, but I might show a part of my trailer to help you out. Maybe.

- Find an empty server to use
- Ask someone who owns a server if you can borrow it
- Don't give up so fast.

Yeah, don't give up Braden. Worse comes to worse, if your computer is just being crappy... you don't have to do the trailer alone. You could always get a group together. If you are a skilled player... then record demos of yourself doing some awesome maneuvers and pwning (even if you are pwning bots). Then just edit the demos on another faster computer.

There's plenty of time - as in months to get some kick ass footage together. That also give you plenty of time to flesh out and shape the trailer. Your computer may suck.. so, work with the limitations. Work around it. You won't fail.  :)

-added to entry: I have a feeling that the reason you are having problem starting a server is because it could either be a port thing in your network or just some dumb firewall thing. I could be totally wrong about that. I know little about network stuff, but, it's just a feeling I guess. If I am warm, then at least you have a direction to start in.

I really don't get the problem with bots.

Soldat is known for its online/multiplayer play.  99% of people who play Soldat play online, so a video advertising it should do that.

Bots don't use enough of the weapons or techniques in Soldat to give people enough of an idea of what Soldat is or what to expect
