I've looked at the posts and I came to the conclusion that none of you are necessarily wrong.

Yes the police DID do as they were trained, In any situation where they think they are in inherent danger, they are instructed to shoot first and ask questions later, even in Australia. In fact I remember reading a newspaper article were an officer from somewhere was chasing a kid, around the age of 17-18 and almost killed him because the kid reached for something in his jacket, it was lucky the police officer missed, the kid was reaching for an inhaler. This goes to show that officers and all lawman are instructed to get the job done with minimal casualties, they won't risk their lives and their partners lives by second judging something, what if the man had of pulled a gun and killed one of the officers? What opinion would you of had?

I also see where Dis is coming from, yes, that amount of bullets seems unnecessary and the fact that it took four men and 50 rounds before they realised that the man was dead. Like someone mentioned, they had no idea that it was their men firing, it could of just as easily of been the man under fire, returning fire on the officers.

All in all this is one of those controversial circumstances where everyone is in the wrong.
The man shouldn't have tried to flee the seen, let alone act as if he had a concealed weapon.
Although the officers did their job, right down to the letter, they should of been more prepared for something like this. Remembering they in fact did the right thing.

I fail to see why you are all driving your points so hard, the information is there for everyone to make their own opinion on the matter. Dispair, you should not try so hard to force your own beliefs on someone else and vice versa. But I will admit that in trying to drive the point so far in, you've made yourself look stupid by being ignorant to the information given by countless over members on the subject, most with at least minimal knowledge on the topic, and some with extensive knowledge on it.
Let people form their own opinions.

Overall, this was an interesting arguement, but again, blown out of proportion. But they really did nothing wrong legally, maybe a little brutal, but nothing that needed any real punishment.

You think that firing 50 shots is somehow too much in a dark situation firing on a car between three officers with semi auto pistols.

You can't possibly be serious.


It is possible for an officer, or a captain of a ship, or a poker player, to make all the right moves and still lose. This is a good example of such an event.
