New Health System

Ok, I know this has happened to EVERYONE.

You and some guy are in an intense fight, battering the hell out of eachother. You both have low health, but you are JUST about to kill him and he PICKS UP A FRIGGEN HEALTH BOX AND KILLS YOU!!! This is extremely irritating to me (not to mention unfair), and I was thinking that a new health system could be implemented as an OPTION ONLY.

This would be something like the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare health system, where there is no bar or health boxes to pick up. If you get hit a lot of times in a row, your screen will start to turn red as you have very low health (even though there is no health bar.) BUT, if you manage to get away and hide for a bit, your health will slowly start to regenerate as long as you are not getting shot at. Every time you get hit (even by one bullet), the time until your health starts regenerating is reset. This is not an extremely long time, but long enough so that is tough for someone with low health to get away.

I don't think this should be made a permanent health system, but just an option that you can use if you prefer. It would probably be in the same area as the area where you choose if the game is "Survival" or "Realistic" mode. If you wanted this health system, you would simply check the box before you started the game.

Sorry if this is a bad idea, I really didn't think it through as much as I should have.

I get you perfectly. I can see this kind of thing working perfectly for first person shooters, but with Soldat it's just TOO fast paced. When I'm playing an FPS game, such as UrT, I can hide in a corner,crouching, with an AK in hand for a while and not get killed. This won't work in Soldat because your destined to get a nade in your face.

Honestly, I don't see the need for this. The only solution I can think of is for the server admin to reduce the number of medkits that spawn.

^Agreed. It's a good concept and suits the FPS genre very well, but when it comes to soldat, the current system will have to do.

There are the few odd health sex machines out there. I always like to quickly chuck a grenade into a health zone during a fight, so if he suddenly decides to sex machine it up, the nade will either blast his guts out, or send him flying away, where I can finish him off. It works really well, nice suggestion anyway though, xSystemx.

Alright, thanks for the comments, I see your guy's points. I guess this just wouldn't really work for a 2d game, our current health system will have to do. I thought it just might be a bit more fair and fun.

Edit: Sorry, I just realized this should be in "Suggestions." My bad, can a mod or Admin please move or lock this?

I also understand what you're trying to say (I noticed its a bit like Thing Thing 4). I agree with the other two posters ; the game is too fast-paced, and you're always out in the open ; there is almost no place to hide at all.

So it's a F11. However, I'd say good effort in suggesting this idea.

Meds are fine...lets just say...the guy gets lucky when you almost kill him and he gets that health. Just his luck. its not like its never favored you like that...

Sounds like you need to learn how to aim and kill the guy before he gets a med pack then.

Sounds like you forget that it takes 0.3 seconds to run behind the nearest polygon.

Also I'm not talking about medpacks, but running around and slowly getting healed.

Providing you can get away from all other targets before they kill you, and providing he can run around the map for long enough to get fully healed. Soldat is just too fast-paced for a slow heal.

you obviously don't know psycho. Don't just blindly assume things.

Its annoying sure, but most soldat tactics is based on a guy with full health kill a guy with little health, thats why most clanners runs back to the base after killing a inc, its all about the healing. If you change the system, the game will be stuck in a stalemate.

It's a good idea but as all ready pointed out it will not fit soldat. Getting healed all the time will make the good players almost invincible.

I have never liked this on any game. It turns a fast action killfest into hiding behind rocks shooting potshots with the sniper rifle. F11.

That's not unfair, it's a terrain factor.

And how is this weapons balance?

This is a nice idea. But...

Soldat isn't like other games. It is one of the most successful 2d side scroller games ever to come out! It has its own system and does not model other 3D fps games.

The health box system IS annoying sometimes, but that depends on the situation.

Each map has its own area to drop health packs. It's probably used in many hit-and-run soldat tactics (and some noob style tactics as well :D)

A regeneration of health reminds me of Halo and the shield system there....
