Sound Format
« on: April 27, 2008, 02:03:17 am »
Yep, changing the format of certain sound folders in Soldat.

I have Switch to change some formats to another. However, it doesn't change the format to .xm or .it, and I'm thinking of changing the music in my own personal mod. Also, for Soldat music, try playing it. Notice that the music plays the first part, then after that the music will keep repeating without replaying the first part. So I have two questions:

1. Is there any other software that can change it to the .xm and .it format?

2. Is there any way to change when the music starts looping?

1. Okay, I'll find time and search for it later. Damned exams...

2. Okay... I'll explain again, more clearly.
Let's assume that there is a song that is 1 minute 30 seconds long. When played in Soldat, it would play the first 30 seconds, and then the next 1 minute. When the song is finished, instead of replaying right from the start, it would play after the first 30 seconds. I'm asking, if there is a way to change this, for example, by making the song replay from the beginning of the song or any other time other than after the first 30 seconds.

1. The song does replay from the beginning.. the songs in Soldat are looped very well and it may seem like the intro to each song only plays once and then the bulk of the song repeats but this is not true. The loops are standard.

2. Bloody Soil uses .XM format... but Gore and Necromancide use .IT format. (don't let that catch you out)

3. I've tried making music in a mod before... unfortunately ModPlug Tracker has a habit of putting a few seconds of silence onto the end of the track... which makes it unloopable.

Save it as .wav, cut silence, recompile to mod ;D.

No, it's not that simple, ModPlug Tracker is what adds the silence onto the end when you compile.

You could try looking for music you like already in that format in the Mod Archive. I think they have links to other tracker programs. Maybe you could google for them.
