Statically, my income is greater than 53.3% percent of the United States population. And I am making more than your average person. ($46,326)
According to this August 2006 Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage Report by the US Census Bureau (page 31).
And according to this chart. I am making Masters Level income.

So I am making more then your average Soldat Forum member. (At least in the US, and defiantly members in 3rd world countries). It is fact, accept it. Do not challenge it.

If I am gloating about anything, it is that I have a job more challenging and rewarding then anything you people have to look forward to. (With exceptions like Geo and Bricks)

Whoa, whoa, whoa...I can't laugh at you without you deriving some sort of meaning from it?  Currently (or you will) you make way more than I do now - I'm only coming in at around 12k a year based off of an assistantship.  And seeing as how I'm 25, saying "my dad makes more than you" is a little pointless.  Even if it is true.  But I never said that, now did I?

But, back on track...it surprises me you focused on that more than the actual advice I was (hoping) to give you as someone who has seen the benefits that college-level experience can give.  You did get yourself a decent niche, don't get me wrong. 

And the last time I checked, I'm in no part of any "special class", other than the class that worked their ass off to get where they are.  No silver spoons here buddy.

At least not yet.  Did I mention the insane demand for geologists that has led to entry level salaries of over 70k for just a bachelors?  No?

Well, only if you're genuinely interested..actually I was referencing the massive age gap in the current work force.  Lots of old timers who got started with early oil, exploration, and other businesses retiring, and many of the potential hires are in the 20-30 age range.

It's too bad those boring, stupid things control your daily life so thoroughly, isn't it?  Anyhow, this isn't about rocks..it's about a certain someones new job.

I wish I could have been a part of early computer/IT/etc.  To think of the billions that were to be made back then is a real kick.  Potential for moar?

Living mah dream. I've wanted to do programming ever since I spent two months of my grade 6 summer programming Qbasic. I'm taking a couple computer sciences courses at school, and am buying C++ book for over the summer study along with a shitload of math/physics courses. I'm also looking at a few Software Engineering programs at various universities.

I just got a job at the local Staples Business Depot as a computer consultant, I just wanted something to do with computers to do

You are correct, you did not say much. However your post in the context of the thread could only leave me to believe you where on Slashnoob's little red wagon.
Am I wrong in assuming that you enjoy what you are doing? That is wealth in it self.
Even if you are not making much now I fully expect you to have a yearly income much greater than mine eventually.

Your advice is something I have been battling with for quite some time and is a conversation for another thread. I acknowledge what you said but I don't want to get into it.

Special is defiantly the wrong word to use. Rare would of been a much better word. If you where above me in the social economic latter then your in a very small percentage.

Your job consistency is probably going to be greater. The job I took up will end in 3 years. Then I am to search around till I get lucky again.

it all would've been nice and cute if you havn't made such a hyper cocky approach in the firstplace. if a friend of mine ever come up to me and says "hey dude i've got such a great news! you really need to congratulate me and be a part of my happiness - i'm probably making more money than you or your parents make! my job is so cooler than anything you've ever aspired to do!" well honestly the last thing i'd like to do is to be happy for him or atleast congratulate him.
