Whenever I want to create a map, I can't think of any good layout. Even playing with MSPaint doesn't help. So I decided to create an app which would generate layouts for me. And here it is... layout generator.

To convert map to polygons use some raster to vector converter and then use SAVA.

Nice job even though I like to get map layouts from dropping my soup from the table.

Hey, anything to make mapping easier!  I'm still figuring out how to use polyworks.

Nice job even though I like to get map layouts from dropping my soup from the table.

Good point.  I've always wondered how many CTF maps were generated via Rorschach Tests (inkblots).

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."

Rainrider seems to have a fetish for breaking all his links.

Yeah, it sounds good but it's almost useless if you ask me.

On average, I have to generate it about 20 times until I see something even decent.  Seems best for mappers with no form of imagination.

It is good in theory, but execution is horrible.

I have never gotten any even remotely good layouts with 100+ tries, adjusting settings as i went.

lol... don't actually use this for coming up with exact layouts... Just use it for finding a single route or something that looks catchy, then use the drawing tools to tweak it around a bit until you find something you like.

I really like this tool, as well as all of Rainriders programs (nice work on them all)
