What happened to "Beyond Diplomacy"?
« on: April 30, 2008, 08:13:27 pm »
It was pretty good at the start.  Did it just die?

I thought it would have been an interesting online game.

I'm not trying to bump or anything.  I was just wandering why it was dead.

Because risk is a boring game.

It was somewhat hard to get the battles going and the map had to be updated manually. We also had some issues with some inactive or slow members. But the battle system was actually really good.

I agree with you on that. But one of the issues was that units weren't very balanced, especially when it came to custom units. I myself tried to make my "mexican drug bandits" effective only on land units, but there were people who were like "my special unit brutally rapes every other type of unit and is cheap to produce."

Now that I thinked about it, we could try that game again. The bugs just need fixing, and we need better players. Is DePhille still around? I think he made most of the code. I can become a mod if needed.

Yea, it would be pretty good to get the game back up again.

It died due to inactivity. I think that happend because I tried to recreate the fun of the old Beyond forum that used Nationstates to add more depth to the nations as well as the battle program that one of our members made; but Beyond Diplomacy failed as it wasn't connected to Nationstates, which meant that the whole forum was pretty much all about the battle program, which got boring as the program was really designed as a 'battle calculator' to add a more official judgement on roleplay battles that happend in The Beyond forum. That old forum was a continuous roleplay with our Nationstates nations, rather than the world conquest 'Risk' style game that Beyond Diplomacy was.

Oh, and...
