Type and Voice Program?
« on: May 08, 2008, 12:18:31 am »
I don't know what this program is called, or where to find these softwares.

I'm looking for a program, in which when you type something, the program will actually read it out in a voice. It's like the Microsoft Sam in your computer, but I don't want that voice, I want to be able to choose the voice I want.

Do you have any idea what these are called and which ones you recommend me to use?

(I'm having an idea of making a mod, though I don't know how long my inspiration will last me)

If you have any games (like footy games with commentators) that support this technology to say custom words (names) then you could try recording it off of one of them.  Most of the Rugby games I think you can do this in (if you want a sports commentators voice that is)

Saddly I don't have those games. And the kind of voice I'm looking for has to be somewhere along humorous and cartoon-ish. One voice that I have confirmed to use would be "OH MY GOSH I'M ON FIRE!!!"

Lol?

Anyway, I'm downloading that JAWS thing (there are free versions). Keep more of other programs coing just in case it doesn't work as expected.

EDIT:
I tried JAWS. Can't seem to find the right voice, but okay. If you can find more let me know.

Hmm, I guess I'll just have to compromise by using Worms 2 voices =/

You can use the Microsoft voice speech tool. It's all robotic, but you can get different voices for it.

You can only choose 3 voices, and only in XP Professional.  They all suck too.
