I don't think you can "convert" them but if you have something like fraps just run the demo in soldat and record with fraps and then edit it.
And as the lyrics go in the United State's national anthem: "America, f**k YEAH!".

Yes, that that is correct. The reason for this is that the .sdm files are not videos encoded in a codec like xvid or whatever, they are, afaik, instructions Soldat reads as "player runs here" "bullet is shot in this direction" "hits running player" type instructions. This is why if you mod Soldat's graphics / sounds / etc, the demos correspond to your mod(s).

Yeah it is a dump of all the packets of information you send and receive.
Which is why laggers look laggy in demos as well.

I thought there was an option to convert the whole demo to BMPs? :o

I'll check the manual.

That is to extract the demo to .BMP's, and the demo is actually played to do that.
I guess soldat just takes a screenshot of every frame, because it does slow down the speed of play.

Oh, yes, that's right.
Well, extracting takes a LONG TIME. And it takes A LOT OF SPACE. I suggest you simpy record the demo with a program like FRAPS.

I think that instead of using fraps, you can try and get a media file converter.

if you don't like fraps just use hypercam
