Everyone says that this game is a whole lot like team fortress 2. But they are wrong, this game will be a whole lot worse than TF2. I know people don't like to make that claim before the game even comes out, but the people who will play this game are the people who are too cheap or too young to buy TF2. This game's community is doomed mostly because the game is free. It will attract all the little kids that I have been harassing on TF2 and then some.

Hope it's optimized good, looks pretty resource heavy even with the cartoon graphics.

BF:H is a battlefield game and it's free. TF2 is not even close to it in any way except the artistic style which is similar. We all know how fun BF games are and now you'll be able to customize your character which will make it even better.

Yes every FPS would be a better game if we could dress them up like we're still doing in Habbo Hotel.

If I was a WWII veteran I'd be pissed off.

They've turned WWII into a light hearted "comic" video game.

Hope it's optimized good, looks pretty resource heavy even with the cartoon graphics.

Are you speaking from game design experience? No. Didn't think so.

Cel shaded graphics actually use less resources because the majority of surfaces are textureless and so can simply be given flat colours (or very, very basic textures). The detail and sense of depth really comes from lighting and lightmaps which aren't straining at all as long as your graphics card was produced in the last 7 years. In order to pull off the look, however, models do require a higher polycount for lightmap effects to appear smooth. The only really taxing thing will be foliage which will require a good graphics card to look any good at all.

From what I can see, Dice and EA have just thought... "hmmm Team Fortress 2 is doing quite well... oh it's about time we made another Battlefield game.... Wait a minute. How about a cel shaded cartoon Battlefield game!!"

"We developed our art style in January 2007. At that point there were very little images out there from Team Fortress. As more details about Team Fortress came out we said 'well there's a similarity here because we're both cartoony, shall we change and go realistic again?'. But no we decided we wanted to keep going. The alternative would have been another gritty, realistic WW2 game and everyone's fed up with those. We really believe in our style and we're just going to go ahead and do it."

BF:Heroes will probably have more 5 year olds screaming in their mic because mommy won't stop them from downloading a game with gore 'n killing 'n stuff.

edit: yes everyone will see that bf:heroes is way more superior and just drop the game they bought and had fun with since the first seconds they've bought it.

There is no way TF2 will be left empty no matter how good BF:H turns out to be.

Judging and talking crap about a game that you haven't even played just shows how much of a fanboy you are. "PS3 SUX XBOX RULEZ!!" ring a bell?

Dont be afraid of some similarities between games. I'm sure alot of people will end up liking both of them.

Stop comparing it to TF2. They are completly different games. What's next, comparing new FIFA to GTA4? :/

It seems to be quite fun, although completly different from all other BF games

Honestly, I'm more intrigued with the server features than the graphics style: It matches you with people around your play level so it's never too easy and never too hard. Or that's the concept.

I'm definitely going to check it out when it comes out; I mean, heck. It's free!

Quite frankly, a free game is not going to be as good as a not free game, so yeah stop comparing. As far as free games go, it looks pretty good, but free shooters are notorious for sucking. (Soldier Front) In fact, this reminds me a lot like the SF scenario. SF is very similar to CS, but sucks a million times worse. Like I said it looks ok, but I probably don't play it, Soldat looks way more fun.

I don't know; unlike independently published free games, this one will be backed with money (limited ads). Plus, the amount of time they are taking on it really seems to speak volumes to me.

You actually believe that? They couldn't possibly be covering their ass in that respect right? They would have said that regardless of if they had or had not ripped off TF2. Fact.

I see big differences between the two styles of the games but I know that DICE couldn't have come up with that idea on their own. To suddenly jump from gritty realistic style to cel shaded "cartoony" style with no development of their 'style' prior to Team Fortress 2's initial previews and information releases is just very unlike such a company. Especially one that gets whÖred by EA every year or so.

TF2 will be remained one of the greatest game, because it has a very unique game play of each characters. And I think BFH is going to be just as same as TF2, only different craps.....

Hello Heroes!

As you may have noticed, you killed our website. We are not angry. We’re very pleased you want to be in the Beta.

The beta for Heroes will be divided into several stages, the first of which is all about testing out this new way of getting games to you all; by downloading and installing them from a website. We’ll also be trying out some other dull stuff to do with servers, so we are expecting the systems to be down as much as they are up.

To help us track down all the technical issues, we have asked a third party to find us some specialist Beta testers
. We are doing all this because we want to be sure that when we launch Heroes, everything will work smoothly.

So hang in there! We will announce here when it’s time to sign up for the public stage of the Beta.

Goodman

Signing up for the beta just to play the game before anyone else without any previous experience is just waste of time. Wait for the public beta for christ sake!
