ALRIGHT THIS IS IT
« on: May 22, 2008, 11:36:46 am »
so i'm doing a multimedia course and all shits and giggles everythings going fine

except for when i try to work at home... i'm having alot of trouble because my hand is as shaky as fuck and i'm finding it more awkward to use my mouse to draw in flash and photoshop than a 12 yearold giving a handjob

how do i get my mouse to not pick up every little shake and bump? i've tried changing my mouse sensitiviy through the control panel but that doesn't do jack

i'm using an infra red mouse if that helps

help me out and i'll make awesome cartoons

I doubt you will make awesome cartoons (prove me wrong)
But that mouse sensitivity stuff is probeably the only way. Check if there's any special drivers so the mouse or Maybe its something in Flash. (Check the settings)

Try a mouse board whit a pattern that's not too neutral still not very screamy. (Something like a squared pattern.)
Or you should change mouse. if you got a city dump somewere in your hometown you should probeably find something there. But be warned. Not all managers like people stealing they'r junk.

You mind telling me what version it is?

the mouse mat works pretty well it slows it down a bit

if i put the settings down too much it becomes pretty much un moveable
the biggest problem i have is that when i do want to draw slowly the goddamn thing won't draw a perfect straight line like i can on paper...

Can you send me a picture of your working surfice? Like mouseborad. Or something? Because the optical/infrared mouse is working diffrently depending on the surfice.

dunno if this matters to you or not:

USB mice (wireless mice especially) tend to have a lower "refresh" rate than PS/2 mice, which means they have less accuracy than regular PS/2 mice. Mind you, it's probably not something that's even noticeable to the human eye, but there you go.

I'd suggest using a mouse pad that provides a sturdy grip for your mouse, that way you are less likely to bump the mouse around.

Plain white? Your mouse shouldn't be moving at all. Try using your surfice under the mouseboard. Otherwise try it on anything that's not plain white. or you can stab some holes in it. make sure they are randomly placed. You can use a less dramatically method by taping some paper peaces to it.

It doesn't matter what color the surface is, really. It all depends on whether the surface is reflective or not.

You need to get yourself a graphics tablet.

Case closed.

woo beat me to it. If you can draw with a regular pencil, you should just get a Wacom Bamboo Fun. I have one, and I like it. it's worth the 200 euros I paid for it.

Your partly wrong. Its about the difference between the frames the mouse take in. If its reflective that effects it alot because the reflection often is pretty much the same.
So having a spotted mouse board is probebly better than a blank mouse borad. Unless you got superfast mouse movements or very low framerate.

Add weight to the mouse.

Older style mice suffer from that flaw, however, newer (within the past few years) mice use LED based sensors that operate at a standard no matter what the surface is like. So long as it is 1. relatively smooth and 2. non-reflective, it's fine.

i have a graphics tablet at home and at my tafe as well and i can honestly say they are the most frustrating things EVER
they have no grip so the pen slides and it sucks harder than a slut with a v8 engine drawing on the tablet and having to look at the screen to see what you're doing

if there was such a thing as a tablet with a screen on it i'd buy it in a heartbeat

Add weight to the mouse.

YEAH TOTALLY A GOOD IDEA

There are such things but with the same amount of cash you can almost buy a chimp that can read your mind and draw the things you're thinking of.

You don't need to look at the tablet when you're drawing. It's the same as a mouse, just more comfortable.
