Meaning of life?
« on: May 24, 2008, 04:58:00 pm »
Please no religious views, I hate adults with imaginary friends..

why do we live, and what is the universe and so on,, big deep questions.. meaning of life.
I have my opinion, but I want to hear yours.

I have this theory, that the universe could be like an Atom, and that we are just as small to someone else like atoms are to us. there is no way I could prove this, only a thought.

Ironically, the bias that you just demonstrated is still a religious view.

I have this theory, that the universe could be like an Atom, and that we are just as small to someone else like atoms are to us. there is no way I could prove this, only a thought.

And even more ironically, that's also a religious view.  The only difference between you and me is that I have a name for who person that is so much bigger than us.

Besides, if you factor out religion, then life has no meaning at all.  You're just some chance occurrence of life whose only use is to propagate your species or die off to ensure survival of fitter species.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

The meaning of life varies from person to person, but in the end, there's generally one common view, which is to simply live to do something before you no longer live.

I think I live to try and make life better for others.

And now the paradoxes begin....

Life would be easier on the population if you did not exist. (Economically speaking that is)
So by simply being alive you are not achieving your goal.

But if you just kill one infant, you're break even.

So, stm, I advise you to kill at least two of those just to make sure that you're not a bad person.

This is true, but I think your getting off the track of helping humanity. You must consider the effects of killing that infant in a positive and a negative way.

Nice assumption.  It's a good thing that's just your belief.

In my religious view:

The purpose of life is to live and experience all things, to live and to learn, to hammer out the flaws in yourself and to aid others in their own journies, so that when all is said and done and your body's returned to the earth, you can return to the source (whether it be your Christian God, the Akashic Records, or in my case, the Lord and the Lady) an enriched and better person. Rinse, lather and repeat until you attain enlightenment, and honestly, I haven't worked that part out yet.

I would assume that you'd transcend our known reality and continue on as some sort of spirit.
