Meaning of life? To honor God, our creator. Simple.
My view.

Well in my christian point of view:  The bible says God pretty much created us because he was bored...  And he needed somebody to worship him or something.. So he made the heavens and the earth.  And one of his angels, Satan, turned on him and became what most know as the devil.  Therefore, a massive battle between good and evil started.  God will take the humans willing to follow him off the earth into eternal life (Christians) and all else will burn in hell.  It actually states the earth will fall, and a huge demon with spears for legs will arise and crush us all or something.  (Brittney Spears xD xD )  Anyway that's how I'm supposed to see it I suppose...  I don't agree with everything in the bible, my facts may be wrong..  Yet I'll try do the safe thing and try not to fall to evil ;D

Life would be easier on the population if you did not exist. (Economically speaking that is)

But there's a LOT more to life than economics.

Besides, if you factor out religion, then life has no meaning at all.

Nice assumption.  It's a good thing that's just your belief.

On topic edit: He who dies with the most toys wins.

Fair enough.  The meaning of life is to accumulate luxuries, and therefore happiness, right? My post was about life as a whole, instead of one's personal life (which I thought would have been evident in the context of the part of my post that you conveniently left out in your quote), but I suppose treating the word "life" to mean the period of time that a person is alive could be truer.  After all, it would be foolish to try to find the meaning of life during a time when you're not alive.  I'm willing to admit that there are ways to make the most of one's life, and therefore "find meaning" in it, even if they don't believe in a higher power.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.

I didn't quote you out of convenience.  That was just the only part I didn't really buy.  Whether or not we're talking about a human life span means little.

To be frank I just didn't like the notion that without religion life has no meaning.  That statement seems rather absurd to me, as life was existing long before religion was ever cooked up by the minds of men.

On a side note, don't read too much into my statement.  Just a saying one of the professors around here likes to spout every now and again which I found applicable to the topic.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

But arguably, if the religious people are correct, then the subject of their religion existed long before the religion itself (and, incidentally, before life itself).  It would be foolish to assume that if a higher power exists, it does so only because people believe in it.

There is no chance religion is right, I would say(in my opinion) if I wasn't so damn sure. I believe men needs to believe in something, so that life doesn't get meaningless.

I think, that we are yet to discover the meaning of life in outer space(or inner atoms).
So it is no matter what I do in life, I could just die right now.
Therefore the best thing I can do is to help human race discover the meaning of life, but other people would do that better then me anyway.

I wish I could live 1000 years from now

I'm gonna go ahead and say that the original poster created this thread for a reason, and that was to stir up some intellectual debate.

If you don't have anything to offer the man besides "42" and "lololol get sum sexuns" then I suggest you keep away.

We live untill we die. After that its nothing. Eventually noone will remember you existed, and give it enough time and humanity and the planet earth will cease to exist.
This is why I do not worry my ass off about anything. Just live life as you want to.

Atleast I do not need promises of an afterlife to make it trough this one.

Religion isn't a necessity to morality/meaning, nor is it its purpose.
