OMG?! NOOB! WTF?
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:33:22 am »
Here is the scenario.

Player is killed, thus their responses is as follows: omg, noob, wtf

I ask this in regards to these two and other similar instances which incur responses of such a surprised nature.

From what I suspect, is the manner in which a player has died momentarily unbelievable for one to reply as "OMG!" as in "Oh my god, I can't believe it's not butter!"? If it was a "noob" (with the idea that this term does not carry the same definition for everyone) that was suspect of killing another, by the definition of the victim, then for what reason could that victim not evade the suspects attack if they were in fact a noob? Does "wtf" possess the same nature as "omg" when posted after the victim was gunned down, assassinated, jumped or resulted in their own death?

I cannot recall any other blurted out words at the moment but I can honestly say that I simply type in "lol" in regards to my deaths because of how easily I was slain (believing that I should know better than to die in such manners of an easy kill), how humorous an account it was for me (i.e. placing myself in the path of the knife at the last minute without intent to) and how I did not act upon an opportunity because I was not simply paying attention to the entirety of my surroundings. I have become aware that it is not the most desired response, especially for one who is use to dying as infantry, but I do try to find fun in it all. I also find it interesting in the manner that I might have died that moment. So I more so make light of things, I guess.

[knife]What about you?

I start swearing, then bitching out the guns the opponent used, and then I proceed to follow them around the map until I kill them a ridiculous amount of times.

I whine, bitch and moan.

I never use such words as noob, omg or wtf. Actually I think that the word 'noob' is the most annoying word, and it's users should all be damned to Hell.

My most used is just simply ..., though sometimes I drop the f-bomb and especially c-bomb.

I cuss a hell of a lot at people in-game, but mind you these are gathers and people know me enough to not care.

I normally don't say much when killed apart from the usual "NS" or "Niiiiiiice," if they pull off an amazing kill. Otherwise, I just have a rage at my computer in real life instead or chuck up a taunt or two.

I use random taunts, To make them more angry. At which point they attack and get so cocky they are easy targets.

The most common things I see, When people die.. Is the random outburst of one of the following: "UR MOM" or "FAG!!" followed by a dumb vote-kick.

I don't mind the 'omg' and 'wtf' cause there's alot of 'wtf' and 'omg' moments in Soldat. Rather it's the annoying hit bug or lag. But as far as getting called a 'noob' for killing someone, is down right whiny. Often with the m79, but as soon as I whip out the HK or the AUG and start raping some asses, I'm a bigger noob? Eh yeah...whiners.

As far as myself...I never seriously insult someone 'in' the game. My insults can't be heard. Only my family can hear me swearing like a sailor =]

I never insult anyone in the game, nor have a sworn or cursed in the game or in real life =P
Here's my rule - say something nice, complimentive, or encouraging or shut up.
If I do otherwise, it's to friends who know I'm joking.

EDIT: I wth for random lag shots

Nowadays, I give less compliments, occasional "nice shots". I may curse a bit (like "wth") when I get very very annoyed (particularly on a bad day or with EGOISTIC idiots running around) online, in real life I may just exclaim, but never type it out.

If I am in these situations, generally either I go "lol" or say nothing at all. If I'm feeling a little high, I'd make stupid remarks for fun with the "XD" to signify that I am only just playing around, and not being serious.

I usually chuck up an   ALT+5   ALT+Y

Some may have experienced other instances where I may have not been completely satisfied with my playing experience.

When I get killed I usually say "ns" or "nt" if it was a nice kill, but usually I don't even say anything at all. I don't really want to spam with useless messages and I don't really think that getting killed is something that frustrating to make me mad or furious. I try to keep calm, because when I'm angry I play much worse.

Weapons > Insults

Cursing hasn't yet helped anyone, and it's best if you have negative energy inside you, to let it go through an exhausting way - killing.
Yeah, I curse. Judge me :P
A large portion of cursing players use cliches, mostly "your mom" (or worse - you're/ur mom).
"lol" is not used with its meaning, it's a new word now. People type it in when they have nothing to say or just express a slight net-smile, not present IRL (In Real Life).
LOL (capital letters) is more likely to have its true meaning since capitals are recognized as "screaming", thus it becomes a "louder" laughter.
OMG - to express surprise or anger. "omg i hit" or "omg ns O_O", even disappointment "omg...".
WTF is a more angry and surprised version of OMG. It is displayed when the player is killed without expecting it.
OMG can also be used when the player is unexpectedly destroyed, but then I think it's most likely "omg i saw him and couldn't react" when WTF is for situations like "where'd he come from?".

One thing I've noticed about the usage of "wow" - it is ALWAYS followed by "you ate"/"you lag", but NEVER by ANYTHING good.
You know, it's good to see that Soldat players dislike WoW.

Times full of cliches. Look around you for someone who is innovative. I'm used to old insults flying around a server, but when I see a codger cursing more originally and effectively, he immediately receives +1pt from me.
I wanted to be a nice guy, and make compliments, but I can't stay neutral when two sides are fighting.
Then I turn against both sides >:D
So whatever insult you confront, no matter what you say back, it will always be considered as "whining" since it's the only word cliche tards can ever think of to shut your mouth.
Expressing OPINION: "You're a herd of rams loaded with a century-old insults!!!"
Whine: "I can't take your insults anymore, and why can't I reaload my AK fast and why are my pants green, I want pink ;_;"

Well, soldatters also tell me "nt" since I mainly use knives, but that's rare.
Oh, and "i dont hev tim to writ proper enlihsg" is a lame and pathetic excuse, even ingame.
It destroys YOUR native language, foreigners will speak and write it better than you if you continue neglecting it.

It depends person to person.

Some people actually play much worse when they have all that negative energy within them, because they are so bent on their anger/revenge that they completely lose focus. These players are the ones that need to learn how to relax, calm down, and keep cool and not become too over-excited or whatever (me for example). They evade "offense", Trickster style (DMC3 reference).

Other players, such as you, take in the negatives (probably even the minor ones), channel it into that great anger/hatred and unleash it on your foes, converting it all into complete focus and energy used to battle, and when you finish, you'd either relax a bit, or continue that on other enemies. These are the "Royal Guards", who block and charge.

Sometimes I pull out a "noob" because there's a Major just standing next to your only spawn point with a loaded M79...
I have used "hacker" or "hax" a few times, but that's only when their weps seem very powerful, and can't be countered by anything. It's usually a strange sort of lag.
But when somebody kills me, I just come back and blow them to pieces (well.. sorta... I don't generally use M79, but meh - nades blow people apart!)

I dont really use those insultingly in soldat.

I use noob occasionally, but normally jokingly. Bad idea to use it against someone who killed you. After all, arent you the noob then? Basically, some guy blows himself up, or a teammate gets me killed, I use it.

wtf I use when I die in a really wierd way...where that is like the only thing I can think of.

I usually use WTF, either because I'm annoyed that I died easily or because I watch my well aimed blade go right through someone, but because of lag - the hit doesn't register. I also use 'Noob' sometimes - but that's usually to piss off a major (who has an attitude).

Otherwise it will be a physical insult - pissing on corpse or mincing up corpse with chainsaw, either just to poke (good humoured) fun or if the victim deserves it.
