Messed up or not?
« on: June 06, 2008, 02:03:09 pm »
So I was reading this Slashdot article about how CG images are getting harder and harder to tell from real images.  There are all sorts of ramifications for this, but one of the key topics of discussion was the impact on child pornography.  Already it's legal to create and own an artificial depiction of child porn (in America, at least), but what happens when it looks so lifelike that you can't tell whether or not it's real? If people want to buy that garbage (oh snap: bias), should we let them, especially since no children are actually getting hurt in any way by it?  Or is it just as wrong to depict child porn as it is to participate in it?

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.

Because of child porn, many adult men over the age of 50 want to rape other child children.

That isnt right.

And making fake child porn is retarded.

What the feck. Making porn does not contribute to the chance of elderly men wanting to rape children. Go back to watching FOX you goddamned barsteward.

Porn is just a different art form to me. So whether it's a crappy sketch or some ultra high-res CG image, it's all the same. A piece of artwork. It's not like anyone cries when people create those CG scantily clad faeries or elves.

The way I see it, no one's getting hurt, so let them have it. The real stuff is what I've got a problem with.

as long as children don't get sexed I don't care.

I personally find it disgusting, but trying to push my own beliefs on others never works.

If it looks real then it might as well be real, right? It doesn't change the mindset of the paedophile looking at it. They aren't thinking "this is obviously fake child porn, I want some real child porn"

It's messed up, regardless.

I'll tell you what I hate. I hate those stupid parents who freely let their children run around with nothing on in parks during the summer just because there's a paddling pool or fountain. I don't want to see that, and anybody who does is fucked up, so why do they let it happen? They should make sh*t like that illegal.

Porn is a vent for their sexuality (talking about everyone here), as is video games is a vent to violence.

.....f**k that. I don't want to see CP either.

Maybe you don't like it, but there's nothing wrong with it, IMO.  Nudity doesn't (and really SHOULDN'T in this case) have to have sexual connotations.  Should we make it illegal to look at the old paintings with naked cherubs? They are distinctly child-like, after all...

Unfortunately there are messed up people out there, and what I think is more important than a childs 'freedom' to run around naked is that childs wellbeing. That child doesn't understand the connotations of nudity and most likely doesn't mind whether it is clothed or unclothed. Certainly nobody should be naked in public because society has developed in a direction where nudity is explicit and has sexual implications.

Personally I don't want to see some old man walking around with his willy hanging out and nor do most other people. Why? well because it's an organ used for either urinating or ejaculating and if it's not being used for either of those things then it should not be out in the first place. Sure I am biased because I don't mind looking at womens bodies so long as they are appropriately aged and attractive to me. But I really don't think anybody should be getting anything out in public. Parents should know better than to let their children run around with nothing on in public. At home and in their garden (so long as the garden is fairly private) then it's fine by me but in public they just don't know who their children are being exposed to.
