4 Team CTF

How bout a 4 Team CTF gametype?

Its basicly a normal Capture The Flag but with 4 bases and flags (Here I've got a few options, my thanks to [NoPro]Porn for his ideas.)

- There is the most chaotic style, with 1 flag/team and you cap free for all.
(You can grab any enemy flag and score. Important with this type is that the flag doesn't spawn for an empty team.)
High scorelimit (15-20 perhaps)

- There is 1 flag somewhere on the map and all rush to cap it.
(Similiar to Hold The Flag)
Normal scorelimit (aprox. 5-10)

- There is 4 flags and bases but the catch is:
Alpha can only cap Bravo and the other way around.
Charlie can only cap Delta and the other way around.
(Can be hard to balance the maps for this type.)
Normal scorelimit

Perhaps all these should be available, as another way to vary gameplay.

F11.  While I'd love to see some classic TF-style, four-team gameplay, Jeremy is right: we already have HTF.

Besides, does the typical Soldat server even scale to handle enough players?  I mean 3-4 man teams for HTF doesn't seem like much fun, considering that the odds will be 3:1 against.

How about this instead?

- Two teams, two flags, Alpha and Bravo
- When players score enough points/caps as determined by scripting, they become an "MVP"
- MVPs are re-assigned from Alpha and Bravo to Charlie and Delta teams, respectively.
- Charlie and Delta teams still cap Alpha and Bravo flags as they would before reassignment.
- MVP teams might also get different stats/abilities as determined by scripting.

Another option with four teams and CTF is to put unarmed "civilian" and "monster/zombie" bots on the C & D teams, that just aimlessly roam the map.  Killing a civilian will cost you points, and monsters earn you none.  If an admin wants to join C & D just to be a spoiler, so be it. ;)

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."

this idea is simply 2 ctf games going on at the same time (almost, just that you might have to attack the leader)

but if you made it so you need 2-3 of the other flags to score, that could possibly work but it's hard to tell without testing it.

You see, that's basically having two CTF games at once. It's gonna be too big. Sure, it's cool in a way and even better for spectators who can match two CTF matches simultaneously, but think about how much lag etc it is gonna be, even for a small gather game with not too many players.

We have a couple of 4-teams game modes: Teammatch, Hold The Flag. Hold the flag would be a nicer option if you to have a flag involved.

Might bring some more excitement to the boringness of the black n' white game mode; capture the flag.  Although you might need to rename it, capture the flag(s) xD

i still like the idea and i want it...
its better than htf and better than ctf
cuz 2teams can play as team if they want,
like that delta can help alpha and safe their flag
if they want or they can just make their own thing
and try to win alone.
it can be chaotic right if the map is to small,
but wont be a problem if the map is big enough
cuz it would be very funny with the right map.
i hope that they add the gamemode to the next version...

but if that is wanted, many "gamestyles" can be taken out... which we don't really want to do

I don't think you'ld need that many players really, playing normal ctf's with 2 players/team can be a laugh too. Frankly I think the ones with like 16 players/team is just chaos.  To get a nice gameplay on this kind of gamestyle you'ld need perhaps 3 players/team -> 12 players in total, easy to find in on any ctf server these days...

And in my opinion you do need new maps, cause you have to have the bases otherwise it ain't ctf... But like I said it will be kinda hard to balance them, with Soldat being 2d, as you have to place bases so that 1 team doesn't have gravity to boost them...

But if just alpha/bravo can cap eachothers flags, and the other way around, its pretty dumb..
