I probably won't. Still got 41 tabs dating as far back from about January that I need to take care of before I can close FF, which is necessary for the update.

Um, you know you can tell it to save your open tabs when you close it?
All you would have to do would be to set that option, close it on up, and then update. When it reopens all your tabs will be there.

While Firefox might not be the fastest browser that exists (that might be Opera, but not Safari), it is much faster than IE in terms of page rendering and Javascript running. It's more secure and safe. It has less bugs. Pages a lot of times look like bollocks in IE because it isn't standards compliant at all, Firefox is.

To answer your question: Yes. Firefox is better than IE for many, many reasons.

Because.....
1) My current computer sucks satan's balls. It is so slow, I bet it would make no difference.
2) Why wait? Because I got a vacation, going to South Korea during June 26~Aug 20/5, so it won't be worth it. (My parent's buying one while I'm gone.)
