Bot priorities
« on: June 17, 2008, 09:30:05 am »
On CTF when FF is enabled...
If a bot has the flag
If a foe shoots the bot, the bot ignores it,
If a same-teamed person shoots the bot, the bot fights back
I think the bot should act the same and ignore it

Not to be high priority, but easy fix?

Lol.
In my opinion bot should be able to shoot opponents while carrying the flag... instead of this.

More like the whole thing should be reversed. The bots themselves have lots of flaws and I can point some of them out (I'm not talking about bad waypoints in maps):

1. The bot doesn't shoot when he has the flag

2. The bot returns fire only when he is shot. This applies to friendly fire (I think this is supposed to be for the "friend" system that bots have but turns out it affects friendly fire).

3. Bot doesn't know how to prone/backflip/roll... they are all by chance or good waypointing if they happen.

4. Bots are affected by Ruger, Barrett, Chainsaw and Fists. (you know what I mean... they only know how to crouch or jump)

5. Bots have their priorities wrong. They see a Rambo in THEIR team (not supposed to happen though), they shoot. The enemy has a flag. They rather slow down and grab a bonus before chasing.

6. Realistic bots have major flaws. There's a flag behind them. Without looking, they know the flag's there and chase. Realistic bots also don't really know when to shoot ; take chainsaw as an example. They saw a bit, stop, saw a bit, stop ; they do this even if I'm right in front of their face, where they could just saw all the way.

7. When they see a nade, they don't try to go over it. Instead, they run backwards, unless they are lucky enough to go past the nade somehow.

8. In INF: "Oh! The black flag is captured! Let's all run to the white flag and try to steal it!" (as if it were a CTF) instead of "Oh! The black flag is captured! Let's chase down the flagger or get ahead of him!"

9. Bots throw nades even when they are built not to throw at all.

10. Bots don't know how to throw knives. They only know how to stab with them. But what happens in a Rambo Match? When you're going to get the bow, they throw their knives so they can pick the bow ; but also kill the person trying to steal the bow!

11. Bot inaccuracy. Try setting their aim to 1%, set the easiest difficulty. Notice the bots aim slightly above you. Which is actually more accurate when they try to shoot you in the air. But this is understandable ; what other way can we make bots have inaccuracy in Soldat?

12. When bots are dead, shoot their bodies. They will say what they would when they are severely wounded.

13. Why in the world would a bot change into his secondary when he has a primary? And why won't he try to switch into his secondary when he lost his primary or is reloading his primary? And why won't he switch to his primary if he loses his secondary? And why doesn't the bot know how to switch to his saw when an enemy is very close and switch back after a certain distance? (Okay, nvm about this one, this one is pretty complex)

14. Bots don't know how to fire in bursts, until they are in realistic. And apparently, they are not affected by any recoil but are affected by bink.

Man, there should be a setting in the botmakers to give bots an intelligence level. Like having a level where they are almost human or to a level to be as dumb as they currently are.

Thanks.

Oh ya, regarding Number 3 on my list: They may know how to prone if they are camping.

I suggested being able to script the bots behaviors.
This would be great because over time someone might make some awesome aiming algorithm, and someone might make a better way of interpreting Waypoints.
Over time the bots would become incredibly advanced and much more realistic.

Scripting bots would lead to campaign/storymode maps which would be awesome.
The computer is a moron.
