Probably because it was an old system that everyone was asking about long time ago, so it was stickied for users to take a look at what the karma system was like last time.

From what I see, the karma is no different from a rep (reputation) system I've seen around vBulletin forums. It's both not too bad an idea and a good idea, depending on how the users use it.

Karma was crap. Mine hovered between -2 to +2 for the whole time it was enabled... damn neutrals

Same, I think my highest was +8, lowest -4, though generally about +2. If it does come back, it should be like on other forums where only mods/admins can change them, so that people's karma changes because they done something good for the community or another + worthy effort; rather than being changed because someone did/didn't agree with their view, or someone didn't like the anime series that their avatar is from (with the exception of having a Naruto avatar and/or Ben was a mod, in which case you may be smited anyway).

I like this idea, about the admins/mods being able to change the karma.

Depends what people want, I've been watching this thread and what people have said

IMO, making it mods-only does 2 things
- Makes karma relatively useless
- makes karma actually more prone to be abused.
