I personally would not care, and I had a huge karma defecit. I always thought it was pretty funny, the first time I saw it I thought it was more of a joke then an actual system for new users to judge people or whatever.

I'm inclined to agree with Ben on this one. The system had absolutely no importance besides personal enjoyment. It gave people a laugh and nothing harmful came from it. Wouldn't the better question be, why shouldn't we have karma? I haven't seen any halfway decent answers to that question so...

I'm in full support of reinstating karma.

Bricks, are you suggesting that you could in fact be willing to consider reinstating karma?

Depends what people want, I've been watching this thread and what people have said

IMO, making it mods-only does 2 things
- Makes karma relatively useless
- makes karma actually more prone to be abused.

Well it really seems to work in the forum I've seen it used, since you know (or presume) that they got it for a reason. But then again, this forum's....'culture' isn't quite the same...

Yeah bricks waiting for a community to get something done is lame, just do it or don't do it.

How about make it so only mods have karma and only regular members can smite or applaud.

Just have it be optional if you want others to see your karma or not.

Make it so people w/o warnings can smite or applaud. So people with warnings don't go around with a hissy fit "OMFG I GOT A WARNING, IM SO PISSED!!!11" and smite everyone...So only "mature people" can smite or applaud.

Plus make it 50 posts.

Although this sounds stupid, if everyone only knows how to smite instead of applaud others, then what's the point of a karma system? Besides, "karma" more like a useless ranking around the internet. It doesn't make you any better or worse, only those who really care so much would be affected.

I think that's why karma was removed... wasn't it?

100 posts is high enough to guarantee that the guy's an active poster... if the karma system should be implemented along with this post count rule.

I agree. I wouldn't want these asshats to decide for me anyway. ...which is probably one of the greater arguments against karma in the first place.
