Yeah... it wouldn't affect gameplay, but on the other hand it's useless. 
So I'm quite neutral except I'm leaning towards F11.  Fair?

The packets wouldn't have to be bigger if you code a colour system, like in other games ^<number>, so the client would display what the colour is, and it wouldn't show the ^<number>
Still, colorfull nicks are useless. F11

the general idea of colored text isn't useless, makes it much easier to read when having multiple colors in a line, although i F11 it for being in people's names and stuff

Being able to use HTML code in your name would be OK i guess, but the amount of chars allowed would be the same.

Oh my god that would suck hard. Whether you like it or not that would raise the max amount of characters in your name. This would require an html parser added to both the client and server. It would, as enesce said, create larger packets making lag more frequent and likely.
