Having an issue with BattleEye
« on: June 02, 2008, 09:16:52 am »

Hello again gents, it's been a while since I've been active on the forums.  College is done for the year and I was thinking about getting back into modding Soldat.  I fired up the game and *bam,* I got this wonderful error:

Now before you chew me out for not searching the forums, I spent quite a while researching this bug.  I found what I'm pretty sure is the cause in my case (X-fire) and even how to fix it (sticky at the top,) however, when I go into X-fire to correct the problem I see this,

The option to disable X-fire in-game is faded out and I cannot check it. I think this would fix my problem, but I can't be sure until I can check it.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated,

Matt

Have you tried clicking the "manual setup" button?

I've never used xfire since it seems to be such a steaming pile.

Can't you just turn off X-fire when playing?

No, I always run bare-bones. I read about how other applications can do the same thing (fraps etc,) but I don't have any of those.  I can't be sure, but it seems as though this problem started after I recently installed X-Fire.  It's just odd that I can't tick the box. When I go to other games it lets me, but Soldat is a no-go.

That Xfire thread should be removed. The Xfire Developers removed the ability to have Xfire In-Game enabled for Soldat about a year ago.

In this case, Xfire is not your problem.

Well I went ahead and uninstalled X-Fire and still have the same problem.  I guess that means I need to start hunting for the cause >_<

Any ideas of additional programs that might causing it besides X-Fire and Fraps?

Any sort of overlay programs and also ATI Tray Tools can cause this.

I have ATI tray tools, do you know specifically what the problem could be with it?

Yeah. It.

Try disabling it or shutting it down or whatever when you play, and see if it stops the error.

Sorry for the necro, but I just found a solution to the ATI Tray Tools problem, and so I think it's relevant.

I was having this exact same problem, but then I read that it was probably caused by BattleEye detecting the FPS overlay ATI TT can display on the screen.  Any overlay is forbidden, and once I disabled this, I had no further problems.

May the Lag be with you.

Alt+F1 - F3 are hotkeys for your custom lag settings.
Alt+F4 will disable the lag entirely.

Are you saying you can have ATI Tray Tools running with just the overlay disabled?

Yup! :D

I had to make sure to tell it to not attempt to restore my icon positions upon quitting, since it messes up during the resolution change, but other than that it works fine.  With the settings in it I'm using for Soldat, the game runs a lot more smoothly for me now, which makes me happy.

I have Xfire running (haven't touched any settings on it) and ATI Tool Tray running as well with no ill effects.  All I had to do was turn off the overlay, and BattleEye no longer banned me.
