ok yes i know this may sound like im dumb or sumthing i just bought this deticated server and i got everything the way i wanted but the only thing is i dont know how to change the name :

so if u can tell me the one simple thing i will be on my way

yes but everytime i do that i change it to what name i want then i close out then i see if it stayed the same or not and it just changed bac to the original name

how are you editing it? what name are you trying to put?

Make sure you are changing the name while the server is NOT running. If the server is running, not only will it not update, but I believe the server re-saves the ini file when you close it, removing any changes made. (not sure on this point)

omg now i just messed everything up i deleted the soldat.ini cuz i saved a different one with the changes i made now it doesnt show up on the list =(((((((((

Just save your changes over top of soldat.ini, don't delete it. Unless you save your settings as soldat.ini and not a different filename after you delete it. Or if you manually specifiy the config file, which is for advanced users.

If you don't have a soldat.ini, the server will just crash.

but...but....ummmm too confusing brian is aching ya i dont have soldat.ini cuz i saved a soldat.ini but i made the changes like server name and junk like that but the i save as and i saved then i uploaded the changed soldat.ini then i deleted the opriginal soldat.ini now like u said it crashed and now i cant get it back to regular soldat.ini ='((
please help me

What you should have done:

1) Open soldat.ini
2) Change the relevant values
3) Save the file
4) If the server is on a different computer, upload and overwrite the existing one.

You shouldn't ever have to delete that file. If you uploaded your changed soldat.ini, what was the filename you used? If it was the same filename, then it would have overwrote the old one, so when you deleted it, you actually deleted the new one.

o0o0o0o0ok i finally got it thank u for all ur help after all when i saved as the chnged file and deleted the original it acctually worked!!! soo if u got a problem tell themk to do that

dang!!!!!!now i changed a bunch of things the way i did last time and last time it only took a day for it to get running now it wont run at at all!!!!!!oooooo this is BAaAaAaAaD!

Maybe you should start from scratch

1 - Unpack the zip archive of the server
2 - Open soldat.ini up in notepad (or your text editor)
3 - Find the line which says Server_Name=Soldat Dedicated Server
4 - Add your server name so that it says something like Server_Name=Some Server Name
5 - While you are at it, add an admin password
6 - Save soldat.ini over the original and close notepad (or your text editor)
7 - Run soldatserver

You can't edit soldat.ini while the server is running and you can't delete soldat.ini and expect the server to still run (unless specifically you tell the server to load from a different config file when you turn it on)

I hope that has helped, if you have any further problems please write exactly what you have done and what appears that you would not expect.
