Spraying is a valid tactic for weakening incoming forces in the absense of the Berrett.

m79 users need minimal awareness to get a kill:

A good m79er is someone who knows how to use the gun to maximize kills and not die. If it means they have to get close in order to guarantee a kill, then so be it.

That's an oportunist M79er. You could say that he's good since he gets alot of kills with that weapon, but then you could ask why they are using that weapon in the first place. I'll be against some M79ers in a server with plenty of hiding places like Arena, then change to a very open map like Viet and they log off. Pathetic.

Though when playing on a public beta server yesterday something very rare happend (as well as my Minimi disappearing from my hands into thin air)- I said "nice shot" to an M79er! He hit me with a shot that actually took some decent aiming! So there are some skilled M79ers out there, but they don't really get to show it since the M79 is cheap by its very nature and tactics.

I think there would be two kinds of 'opportunist' killers. The nooby opportunist would be the player you mentioned in your post. He only knows of one or two basic moves: Camping and Rushing ... or Kamikazing and Superman-ing. He practices these same moves over and over - and hasn't figured out how to apply them properly.

For the better players - being an opportunist is almost like a passive skill... They are able to identify the opponent's weapon weakness (m79 has short range, 1 shot), they can position themselves (ie get some height against m79), they can time their speed/run (stop rushing when they see an m79), and also figure out how to use their 'body' to benefit other teammates (face up to the m79 to buy your team some time, or let an ally sneak by).... And they do all this on the spot.


SO if you're playing against someone who ONLY knows how to Kamikaze - then you might be facing a noob. But be warned - a better player might throw you off by kamkazing one time and then maybe blindsiding you from afar the next time.

The Barret used to be as cheap as the M79, but has became more respectable through nerfs over past versions. The Deagle, being a semi-auto, has quite a learning curve to handle and is thus not a 'cheap weapon'. Spraying itself isn't noobish, it's when players can only spray when they deserve to be called a noob; although some people think that simply firing an auto counts as spraying, but they're also the same people who call you a hacker because you beat them. Plus what Lumen-Shroom said.

While there are some real skilled M79 players out there, the M79 is still an 'entery gun' for noobies; it isn't exactly overpowerd, but it's still a damn cheap weapon. Like I did in my early days of Soldat (as well as being a total camper with the 1.2.1 Barret)- use the M79 and then move on to somthing more challenging.

6 shots a minute.

I thought that the m79 shoots a bit more than that, but anyways, moving along.

Why not an m79 2.0?

It shoots just like the other one, but, it holds two bullets.
Not very in-terms of matching the realistic one, but hear me out.

Just like the ruger, it takes multiple shots to destroy an enemy, but it's still very powerful, and can kill someone with lower hp very easily - but you have to aim precisely with this, or you (4?) bullets are done for, and you have to reload.

Sometimes a grenade would be hard to kill some with, maybe you need two-possibly three nades.

So, if the M79 2.0 has an ammo bump, and a damage nerf, people would be a bit more happier?

The problem with it staying the same is you will still have people complaining.. Personally i find a kill with m79 to be a easy and unsatisfying kill. Now if it were to be nerfed then the "m79 noobs" will just have to deal with it and actually use it with skill with the nerfed m79. then they can actually claim that the m79 has some skill to it. The m79 we have now can be used with skill if you learn the skill. m79 nades do ricochet. i use many ricochet shots with m79. But as for kicking a player for using it i personally feel that it is wrong.

Rumpel: There is an on-screen keyboard you can use for that sort of stuff. I had an old laptop and about 5 of the keys were gone on it and didn't work so I used that.

I can tell you that not alot people know how to use m79
anyway.
You need good timing for hiting from far away, which is hard
(not when you get used to it)
