M 79 whiner noobs?
« on: July 20, 2008, 12:53:53 pm »
Hello out there...

I was just kicked from a server, wich pisses me off, ust because I owned some skilled players with m79... M 79 is IN the game, and they say that I am a noob, and I am kicking their asses, so nice... :)

M point in this thread, why is everyone fagging about m79? It IS a part of the game, imo thoe who say it is noobish are the noobs for playing a game wich involves a weapon they an't stand...

over and out!

There you have it. You can't do much about it except find a new server, or try gathers/clanwars.

There are these kind of people in soldat, deal with it, go to a different server, etc., etc.

I think the reason why players tend to find the M79 a noob weapon is because it kills in one shot and usually takes minimal skill when compared to other weapons.  People used to hate the Barrett in previous versions because it was ridiculously overpowered and is a one-shot kill weapon.  Through major changes with movement accuracy and bink, people now can respect a skilled Barrett user.

In the future if it's even possible, the M79 might get a massive weapon setting change, it'll become a respectable weapon.  In that case, every weapon by then should be perfectly balanced.

For now, you'll either have to find a server with a minimal amount of whiners or just coop with their flaming or ultimately ignore them.

I don't hate the gun, when I call someone and M79 noob it is not calling the gun a noob weapon. I define an M79 noob as an M79 user who kamikazes with it, only firing when they are really close fora  garenteed kill. And uses the fact that (as far as I know) M79 has low self damage. If not, they still do that and are still noob. A good M79 user has sweet arcs across the screen that is cool and actually takes skill.

WRONG
A good m79er is someone who knows how to use the gun to maximize kills and not die. If it means they have to get close in order to guarantee a kill, then so be it. If you suck hard enough to LET them get close, then thats your fault.

Im looking at it from another perspective. I think people dont like M79-kamikazes for the same reason (i guess) MM dicided not to include vehicles in the game. Anyone, newbie or pro a 20% chance (or less) of suvival against a M79 at 1 feet range. (exept for sawers)
I play realistic anyway so im not that bugged about it. Anyone who uses M79 in realistic and sucseeds have earned my respect.

That's an oportunist M79er. You could say that he's good since he gets alot of kills with that weapon, but then you could ask why they are using that weapon in the first place. I'll be against some M79ers in a server with plenty of hiding places like Arena, then change to a very open map like Viet and they log off. Pathetic.

Though when playing on a public beta server yesterday something very rare happend (as well as my Minimi disappearing from my hands into thin air)- I said "nice shot" to an M79er! He hit me with a shot that actually took some decent aiming! So there are some skilled M79ers out there, but they don't really get to show it since the M79 is cheap by its very nature and tactics.

If you suck hard enough to LET them get close, then thats your fault.

That can be very situational. Sure, if you're playing on CTF_Run and not already moving/jetting into the direct path of the M79er, then you'd have to either be a fool or a bloodthirsty green Minimier to get within easy range of him; but sometimes it's not that simple. I think the non-dynamic shell speed for the M79 will be a very good thing, since it'll mean that while it still won't be a good idea to get close to the M79er, at least he won't get a bonus when moving faster than you.

iDante, I was talking more about people who only fire if they are ridiculously close, even if they had the shot before they were extremely close. That's noob. Also, people who whine about the M79 are just annoying, everyone knows that M79 is an unliked gun, we don't care. And I'd be mad too if I get kicked for using a weapon. If they hate it so much, play in a server that has them disabled.

The M79 is exceedingly annoying if kamikaze'd or used to spawn. The fact is, it's a weapon, and you gotta deal with it. Perhaps it'll get nerfed, like the barrett did.

I adore using this weapon, but yes, there are a lot of players out there spreading "m79 h8".

Sometimes I fire back at taunts but most of the time, I mute the worst and strengthen my resolve to improve my game.  But even then, getting kicked is pretty much an end-game.

The only suggestion I can make is that if you're really that good, remember that everyone else takes this stuff way too seriously. So you'll have to invest a little bit of time smoothing egos in publics if you're going to stay logged in.

Swap teams frequently at the start of matches to help even the odds and keep any particular team from getting slammed during every CTF round.  If you're playing DM, chill out in Spectator mode every so often and compliment the better guys in the group - remember that kick votes are usually a percentage of the players on the server, so making friends can go a long way.

Just remember what ol' Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky, and the pillars of Heaven shake.  Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says, "Give me your best shot. I can take it."
