I searched and didn't find anybody else suggesting this, but I really think that an ignore option for the lobby chat is a no-brainer. I didn't realize that one didn't exist until somebody was flooding the channel today, as I looked in vain for a way to stop it. Mods won't always be there to police the channel, and even when they are, sometimes you just want to ignore somebody who you simply don't like or can't stand. Please implement this before 1.5 becomes official.
