Modding Soldat?
« on: July 25, 2008, 02:11:17 pm »
I have done a whole bunch of INI modifications that make the game much more playable, but I feel that this is limited in its own right. :-\

Is there any real program out there that could help me, say, change the physics of soldat?

I wish to do a whole redux of this wonderful game, but I have no utensils to do it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Simply, no.

You can change only weapons physic.

But you can change layout of almost whole game (at least everything you see when playing, no possibility to change main menu ;D).

Nope, you can't change the game's physics. However, in the next release of the Soldat Dedicated Server, you will be able to modify the game's gravity.

And also, you can change the game's motions the character uses, like how s/he looks walking, reloading, etc by modifying the .POA files in the Anims folder. To edit them, you need to use the POA editor. The link to it is broken; some people still have it, I do on my other PC.
There are other worlds than these

Sweetness! I'm sure we'll see some new cool game modes (CTF in zero gravity anyone?).

Well, TY anyhow. Knowing that the hard part is out of the way, is there any program you suggest for near microscopic sprite editing?

Any image editing program that has zoom function. Paint has one.

Uhm... if you have a 0 gravity game, you do realize you will never go down, right?

In this game there is no way to make your soldat go down. You can only go up, and over.

So if you make said server, all of your playing would be on the roof. And if the gravity was 0, you wouldn't be able to walk, you would just be moving your feet.

So 0 gravity is fail.

Think about it.

Maybe like a Gravity of 0.02.

You can use spas/minigun/m79/modded weapons to "fall".

It wouldn't, it would fail. Ever played CS with low gravity, It is really slow paced and really boring.

Real-time gravity editing would be funny (on realistic servers ofc)

*admin sets gravity to 0*
 "hey guys, everyone jump!"
*admin sets gravity to 999999*

I hear GraphicsGale is good for that sort of thing too. Google it, it's free. If nothing else, MS paint does work fine.

Well, you always have Spas and Minigun to push you a little.

Supermanning with the jets can get you moving downwards too.

Although ZG TW = fail.

Wow thats gonna be pretty cool. Will that mean that when the bullets shoot out they will float if gravity is zero? Or will they just keep on going forward?

That's anti-gravity. In 0% gravity, it would just keep going on and on in a straight line until it hit something.

That's pretty much what I said, float up and hit the roof. >.>
