Why do multiplayer games have such bad servers? Some pisshead admin made a swear filter plugin for TF2, because an adult game just isn't an appropriate place for the type of language you would hear on say; a city street. It amazes me that admins kick people for language, I could understand it if barbie horse adventure had an online community but for a game like TF2 a swearfilter is about the dumbest thing ever.

edit- i guess some pro or adv server admins would like to keep it clean of newbies that go LOL FUCK U CAMPER FGGOT or something of that basis.

Yeah I've always found it funny a game you buy with HL2, which has language as a reason for being rated M right on the box, admins don't let you swear. *waits for Geo*

Unfortunately most game admins lack basic imagination and reasoning skills. The power goes to their head and they need to fulfill their 'duty' and protect people from bad language, taking any opportunity to kick or ban people from the game to show everybody else that they have the power and to make everyone else suck up to them like a dog with no legs that needs to be carried around.

Personally I think all games should operate with a client-side swearfilter in a text file that the user can alter as he or she sees fit. Everyone's a winner.

I get really tired of Halo 1 at times. Especially if you play a race server. You'll get constant messages like this:
"ATTENTION! THIS IS A FAMILY SERVER! YOU WILL BE KICKED OR EVEN BANNED IF YOU USE PROFANITY! KEEP IT CLEAN FOR THE KIDS!"

Um... since when are you letting kids play a MATURE game. It's um not a family game. If you want a family game, get something with Elmo in it.

I can understand "don't twat like a little girl" but when its "this is a family server and we want everyone to have a good time" you know the admin is a cunt.

I see your point and all, but I'm kind of with Dascoo on this one. If the server admin doesn't want you cussing incessantly in his server, then, well, don't. If it's such a big deal, there's a whole Internet's worth of other servers to join, where everybody happily swears constantly, plays annoying music through the voice chat, and spraypaints gay furry porn all over the walls.

If I'm ticked off I curse too. Most of the time I don't curse at all, but when you join a server that is a "family" server in a mature game it really does irk me. Maybe companies should make a family friendly version of every game. Instead of bullets, water balloons. Instead of blood, water splashing from the water balloons. Instead of the regular looks of the characters of TF2, the heavy should be a ballerina in a pink costume, the sniper - a clown, the pyro - a scuba diver, etc.
