Laptop screen
« on: August 03, 2008, 12:56:11 am »
I've noticed some really wierd things happening to my screen, it happens no matter what programs are open, and has started getting more and more frequent.

I get like 9/10ths of the screen going really dark and then fading back to normal, a weird white grid-thing which sloly fades to white then *poof* it's gone.

I also get maroon-pink lines, in a sort of ms-paint airbrush style in a line across the middle of my screen.

When I try to print screen it, and paste in Paint.NET, it says the format is corrupt or something.

I guess it is either a virus, display drivers failing, or the laptop hinges might be broken *gasp*.

Any suggestions for help?

It sounds like a backlight or LCD issue.  What model laptop is it?

It really sounds like hardware, not software so it won't matter what software you're running that "causes" it

Yeah, that happened to my Pavilion a couple of months ago, It was caused by my broken hinge.

Model: Acer aspier 4315

What did you do about your laptop? Someone told me that it wasn't worth repairing hinges, it would cost more than a new laptop.

It depends what laptop you have. I'll for sure pay for repairs instead of buying a new XPS laptop >_<

What did you do about your laptop?
I fixed it myself, the connector on the hinge came partly lose after I accidentally dropped it on the floor. A screwdriver and a bit of superglue was all I need to get it fixed.
