The thing called "God" is in people. It's something that determine their lifes, keeps them stick to the moral norms. Holy Bible is nothing but a metaphor of human's existence full of advices and moral values. Guidance of life. Todays world's norms are based on it. I don't agree with everything it says, but we all live somewhat according to that.

I think believing in a guy sitting in heaven and watching us wank is pretty much ridiculous.

That's wrong. If it was this way, then we'd still stone homosexuals and adulterers to death.

We have certain values because we are social beings and need those values to live together.

You seem to be forgetting the part of the bible that says "thou shalt not kill".

People need to start realizing that we are nothing but a giant hoax.
I don't deny the existence of a god, but really, I wouldn't count on god to do anything for me.

LOL, "God didn't create slags, Satan did..." Oh really...? And who the feck created Satan? Besides, your religion says that God created everything, and all you're doing is changing it to suit your needs.

How the feck am I a troll? Somebody asked if I believed in god or not and why or why not, so I answered. That's not trolling, you dipshinyfoo. That's called RESPONDING.

I don't have to prove to you that god doesn't exist. YOU have to prove to me that he DOES exist. You can't. And if you think the bible is proof, it's not. People wrote the bible. People translated the bible. I don't think anybody here speaks Latin, so how do you know what the original bible even said? And since it was written by people, how do you know it's entirely 100% factual? Were you around to see any of the things they say occured? If the entire planet was flooded, what happened to that water, and why hasn't the amount of water on the planet changed since then?

You know, I could say that I saw a 250 foot tall cow-like creature with pink hooves, green antlers, and blue and yellow stripes running across its body. Would you believe me? Probably not, because I haven't shown you any proof of it. If I told you that you had to disprove it, you would probably call me an idiot. Well good, because in that case I would be and idiot, as you are now.

The only answers religious people have ever given me are "it says so in the bible," "God is all-powerful and can do what he wants," and "God works in mysterious ways." None of those actually answer anything.

To all those who believe in god, I challenge you to actually give me an intelligent answer. Give me a REAL explanation to any of the questions I've asked earlier. Or just show me undeniable proof that God exists. I'm being completely serious. This isn't for trolling or inciting a riot/argument/whatever. I seriously want you to answer my questions. I wouldn't be asking them if I didn't want to know, and the lack of answers to these things is why I don't believe. It's your job as a Christian to spread the word of God to the non-believers so that they may be saved, so do your Christian duty and change my mind. I'll be waiting...

There has been a few decent God v Nogod topics, but people seem to forget we had one like a week and a half ago. I guess even with myself, every newbie has to put their ignorant two cents in.

But of course MY two cents COULDN'T be ignorant ;)

If you do believe in god, what created god?

Ah, you're thinking from the human perspective, where every effect has a cause, and things can be ordered by when they came into existence.  What you're forgetting is the fact that concept of creation implies a concept of time.  As in, at one point of time something did not exist, and at another point in time, it did.  However, if there is a God, then there's absolutely no reason to assume that it would be bound by time or natural laws.  Why should a God be restrained by the rules in a universe that it created?

Simply put, an omnipotent being wouldn't be affected or constrained by time, and therefore must always have existed.

Gravity exists because every particle has a mass and mass is attracted to mass. Perhaps you can tell me why the advance of science and the frequency of documented 'miracles' have a negative correlation, statistically. Can you?

Why do particles have mass? What determined the mass of gluon and why is it different from the mass of a positron? If that's determined by vibrating strings, then what set those in motion? Why do they vibrate at a dozen or so frequencies, instead of many, many more?

As for the miracle/science correlation, it's because science refuses to recognize events that it can't reproduce, effectively saying, "Since it can't be scientifically proven, it's not real."  Of course, saying that completely misses the point of miracles, which wouldn't be miracles if they operated under the natural laws.  It's also a labeling issue: Rather than say, "That's a miracle!" people say "We don't know how that happened."

Why don't you just say....

Don't ask questions. It is actually much simpler than saying something that does not answer the question, but to tell that the question itself is wrong.

Listening to you(all blind God believers) is like reading something off a history book.. Where the church just tell people how you can never understand God instead of answering questions.

History is bound to repeat itself.

God can't be physically(scientifically) proven or disproven, it just falls onto personal experience. I have felt his presence, so to me he has been proven. Whether he is real to you... just depends on you and your experiences. Even if I am wrong my faith has kept me happy and sane, I win either way. However if I am right I get double and it sucks to be you.

I like hypotheticals, so imma gonna do one.

Lets say, hypothetically, you meet a dude and he rumble on and on that he can speak 18 languages. When you tell him to say somethin' , he doesn't, and start saying how he doesn't want to.

Perhaps the man does speak 18 languages(highly unlikely), but if he can't prove it to others, doesn't really do anythin does it?[

God can't be physically(scientifically) proven or disproven, it just falls onto personal experience. I have felt his presence, so to me he has been proven. Whether he is real to you... just depends on you and your experiences. Even if I am wrong my faith has kept me happy and sane, I win either way. I do agree that all religion gives a sense of purpose and hope. Good enough reason for it to exist, and to not deny the existence of God.
