can we go over this whole "why the bible and especially genesis must absolutely be taken literally" thing again, because i still don't understand why, especially when if you take certain verses literally they support things like geocentrism even when you consider the context

no actually i meant why young earth creationists take the bible literally. if they didn't take the bible literally they would obviously have no problem with evolution.

I mean that if they didn't believe that the bible is gods word etc. their faith wouldn't be consistent and wouldn't make sense even to themselves. But of course this believe is ridiculous.

It's not like evolution is just some believe. It's a scientific theory which is broadly used. You can not only use it for animal breeding and predicting how environment will evolve over years, it's even used in computer science (genetic algorithms).

You can even observe it yourself in nature. People for instance noticed that a bacteria specie has evolved on dumps of synthetic factories which was able to live on synthetic material where their predecessors were not able to survive.

Also it just happens to contradict genesis. It's not like atheists made this up to upset religious people.

I think that no atheist will kill a christian because, for the atheist, there is no reason to do so. Except for the case when a christian is threatening an atheists life.
