Switched from Sniperline to Without
« on: August 11, 2008, 06:14:42 am »
Okay, I've officially switched from using sniper line to without sniper line. I also changed my crosshair to suit the changes.

I found that
- I can STILL aim my (but not as good):
DEs, MP5, Socom

-Can't aim my:
AK-74, Spas-12, Ruger 77, Barrett, Knife (could never aim my knife, now it's even worse)

-Can now aim my:
Steyr Aug (now I know why pple say its accurate)

Other weapons, I'm not sure.

Now, any tips for someone who has only just started using no-sniper line and had been using sniper line for a very long time of playing Soldat? Includes aiming tips for all the weapons now that my aim has basically gotten worse without the sniper line.

Practice.

you'll eventually slip into playing without it. I started playing with it, but most servers disable it. It'll take some time to get used to.
Lol, internets.

Find Mancer's guide and practice...
Just aim with your *crosshair*, don't try to aim with imaginary sniper line.

I have always played without sniper line. When I switch it on it doesn't help just make things worse. It's just a matter of getting used to using/not using it. With sniperline on I can't aim with barret. :D

If you don't mind me asking, why would the sniper line have helped your aim with any gun aside from the barret? None of the others follow a strait enough path to make it worth using if you ask me.

Okay. I'll try to focus on using the crosshair more ; pointing the crosshair towards the opponent and following him (or nearby, depending on the gun and distance), and I guess I'll have to get used to it over time.

It does for me. It kinda helps me see where I'm pointing at (I don't normally look at my cursor), and a guiding line for me to estimate how the bullet goes, even though bullets don't fly 100% straight. Note that my sniper line is modified so that it is one full line without any missing gaps in between.

depends on how your aim works.. you could try to make a mathematical system :).

Just make sure your crosshair is dark/bright enough to stand out so you know where it is and you won't have to guide it to people, it will just be there and you'll naturally aim with it. And with any auto you have the bullet trail to help you.

When I'm aiming my crosshair is always near edge of screen. I'm not pointing with it any player. I'm not even focusing where my crosshair is. It just happens. I can't just tell you how it works...You have to feel it. Little more practise and you'll be the master! ^^'

yes.
In a game, the default cursor, is that little crosshair circle thing where your mouse arrow would be.

I ignore my sniper line, and focus on the crosshairs, since I find it a bit more reliable than an imaginary arc.

I never look at the crosshair, the target is usually halfway between me and my crosshair, Just like wookash. It's great!

I had to make this transition, due to the fact that I changed my interface, and the new one included a crosshair too small for sniperline.  The thing I took up is to try as hard as I could not to overshoot.  Since I DE, this means to constantly keep the crosshair on their scalp, or somewhere nearby (depending how far away).  As mentioned before, if you concentrate on the crosshair, and furthermore point the crosshair at men and not at air, then I guess it should do better.

It's personal preference - if it doesn't work for you, try something else xD

Okay, so it's completely personal preference, practice and it will come to me over time eh?

Alright then, thanks for the tips. Because I really needed some help when switching, and I would have liked some experiences about how it was like switching from with to without the sniper line.

Problem solved, topic CAN be locked.

I removed my cursor completely. I now aim with the screen position, and where the gun is pointing. It's hard, but fun.

If I do use a cursor, it's a white 1 pixel dot. That's it. :X

I've been using no sniper line since few yers ago.
sniper line doesn't really give any advantage even with barret.
all you have to do is to move your cursor to your enemy

+ it's forbidden in the major leagues etc.
