Is 54C is good thing?
« on: August 16, 2008, 07:31:03 am »
I just happened to notice that my GPU temp is hovering around 54 - 56C. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing because I'm no computer expert and the side of my case feels really warm. I asked some folks on IRC sometime ago and they said their gpu temp is around about 29 - 32C.

That's a good temp. 125C is critical on my desktop GPU so you should be fine with that.

This happens right before your PC dies.

The only way to remedy it is delete System32.

I think you should just stick to flashlights.

54°C is slightly higher than you want it to be... ideally you want it in the 30°C - 45°C range, 56°C isn't going to melt it but it won't do it much good if it stays hot like that for days on end. If it's a high end GPU you may want to consider looking into new cooling solutions, an additional fan for instance..

I was slightly interested in water cooling but I figured it would be too expensive and I would need a new case. I could get a extra fan but I wouldn't think it would make such a difference to the temp.
