ah...thanks. Does it matter at all if I get a book on java 5 instead of 6?
do you know if Head First Java 2nd edition would be the kind of book I would have a really hard time following without any previous experience in programming?

C and C++, but keeps you from doing a lot of dumb stuff
Of course, you won't be able to do anything worth remembering in it
Of course, you won't be able to do anything worth remembering in it, but it's a good start.
QuoteC and C++, but keeps you from doing a lot of dumb stuffDumb stuff? Like what, the extra performance stuff that these said languages require to do that Java does automatically in a really slow way? Anything program written in C and C++ will always perform faster than the same program written in Java. I wouldn't call these things C and C++ require you to do dumb...

If you want to learn java (which I highly recomend) this will be by far the most useful site that you will ever see.Quote from: {LAW} Gamer_2k4 on August 18, 2008, 11:17:09 pmOf course, you won't be able to do anything worth remembering in it, but it's a good start.Ah hem
