Hi all. It's been quite a while since I've been active in soldat. But the collaboration with Schmikko (Mothafix) got me inspired to start mapping again, and here's the result. I fished up an old crappy map I never bothered to finish; to turn it into this infiltration map.
The map hasn't been playtested very thoroughly, so once again bug reports, suggestions, improvements, ideas, friendly critique, waypoints and ganja are all very welcome indeed.

Perfect map, nothing to improve.

Absolutely disgusting and horrible map.

It's so damn buggy, due to very bad polygon placements.  You could cut the polygon count in half and still achieve the same visuals.

That truck with the medic kits only slow players down, get rid of it.

Nothing visually interesting or unique about this map, multi-texture would be 10X better.  You always seem to malina.bmp in your map Dutchman.  Why is this?  Because you're not good at any other texture?  If that's the case, then you need to practice instead of releasing crap maps like this.  tw_Gloryhill is your only good map anyway, and that's only because VirtualTT improved it.

The map is tight and gameplay is way too close combat.  Upper route is a spray and camping fest.  Due to the inner layout, I can imagine most players will only camp within the flag region.

Those mountain backgrounds are so poorly done, it's not even funny.  Unless you practice and learn, don't do something in a map that you're able to do.

That cannon is ****.

Did I mention everything?

Yes, I cannot multitexture and I really like this texture, and no, I don't want to spend so much time in mapping, it's just something fun fun to chill some. I'm not somebody who makes maps to be good at it or show it off to other people and get attention. It's just a relaxing time killing activity.
Anyhow... thanks for your critique, I'll take it with me.
But... follow some social course or something cause you could've achieved the same goal, the same critics, the same message with a much friendlier use of words, and it's much more pleasing to the eye ya know.

What's exactly bad about the cannon. Don't take it to serious, it's just a fun gadget for people to mess around with if they like, but don't expect to much of it. It's better to snipe lying on the barrel of the cannon.

You could take life abit less serious and just chill out more. It isn't always about being seriously the best in everything, making everything as effective, smooth, pretty and just universally good as possible. If you see a bad map, like you did now, sit back and see the fun of it, instead of burning it down furiously like I committed a terrorist attack on your mental being... And if you say I did, you are the pussy here than.

I only post like an ass if the map is THAT bad.  And as far as I can tell, this map indeed does suck.  Good that you took my critique, hope it'll improve your mapping skills and you can make something great in the future. 

Everyone should at least know how to multi-texture and this is a map that would go great for it.  Really kills the potential.  And I doubt most players will even use the cannon and it tends to only fire upwards.

And as the forum has been going downhill, so has my kind-meter scale.

If you feed the troll good maps, he won't cause harm.  If you feed him bad maps, I think we'll know what will happen.

He has already made good maps.

Multitexture is for people who can't make nice looking maps with one texture, which is harder to make and you just can't use the cannon.

From what I've seen, it's only tw_Gloryhill.

And some maps and their concepts work best with multi-textures.  Honestly, if you look at this map, it looks very bland and repetitive.  Now, if he used a multi-texture, that'd be a totally different story.

I kind of like ElSpec's style to comment maps it makes more interesting reading forum. Also it's counterbalance for jrgp's comments which are usually "not too bad for first" "very good" that kind of stuff. That means it gives a challenge a bit more, if every map that is published get ranked excellent (and only few of them are really worth of that), it doesn't help anyone's to delvelop his skills.

Woah, that's a big statement there. It's like saying: people that use new equipment as opposed to old are incompetent. Most of the time, it takes more time and effort to multitexture make the job look pleasing.  I understand this is not always the case...

Well, I take that back a little. Sometimes people use multitexture just to make the map look nice, when it could've been done with single texture. But you're right.

I see your point, and I agree. things should not be like "not too bad for first" "very good". But things shouldn't be the complete opposite like "Absolutely disgusting and horrible map." either IMO. And besides that saying things like "tw_Gloryhill is your only good map anyway, and that's only because VirtualTT improved it." sounds like he wants to insult me on purpose. The statement goes way beyond this topic and has nothing to do with this map whatsoever...

But let's head back ontopic... To much slow-chat...
