Anyone know much about it? I've only glanced at it but it seems interesting (I do love firefox a lot though).

Yeah...I've read the Wiki and spent around an hour reading the Slashdot comments on it... I'll check out the Linux version once it's released, but I don't know whether or not I'll actually switch to it yet.

I am very glad google made their own browser, though. It will definitely take more people away from IE. That should be every non-M$ browser maker's number one goal right now.

Every webdesigner is waiting for the day IE gets discontinued. No more fecking <!--[if IE 7]> tags and googling for CSS hacks just because those devlish browsers can't accomplish the simplest things.

Oh.. and as for Chrome it's showing mindblowingly great potential. They really nailed it with the hidden statusbar and tabs on the actual draggable frame. It's more compact by default than FF can be optimized to. All I really think it lacks are addons, smooth scrolling and a better way of handling large amounts of tabs.

Care to back your statement with actual facts, not just lame, typical, and worthless profane insults? Yeah, I hate IE; so does every web developer having to get their site to work correctly in IE when every other browser renders it in the same intended way.  IE fails to support standards, is insecure, renders html/css and parses JS slowly and incorrectly, etc. The sooner less people use IE, the quicker rich, dynamic, speedy, useful, and efficient websites / applications will arise since developers will stop have to worry about supporting IE's crap.

As for the topic about Chrome, I'm glad Google started their own browser. It isn't really original since, from what I can see, basically combines the existing ideas from the current line of web browsers; but does so in what might end up to be an excellent way. The reason I might not switch to it is because I've been using FF non-stop since it came out and am starting to look at Opera a bit.

He's not a moron. Every webdesigner is waiting for the day IE gets discontinued. No more fecking <!--[if IE 7]> tags and googling for CSS hacks just because those devlish browsers can't accomplish the simplest things.

i can't possibly ignore that vitriolic nerd rage. once again i'm amazed at how easy it is to provoke. this is such an absolutely ridiculous argument, so i guess all i can really say is that you're about as much a web developer as i am a nuclear physicist, and IE is good enough for however many people use it, so browser developers might as well just make the best product they possibly can.

Hope it's better than Firefox so it puts an end to the bs about Firefox "owning" IE so much all the time.  (not saying IE is any better, but it's not much worse either)

You really think they don't try? One of the main goals of a good website is to work on as many browsers as possible, and IE really makes that hard. As Shoskav mentioned, you'll definitely have to use the IF IE conditional comments. I mean comon, the mere fact that those "tags" exist says that Microsoft admits they've failed...left IE6 untouched with all of its rendering problems intact for 8 years instead of periodically updating it like all the other browser makers have done with their own. Stuff would get done much faster if either 1) Microsoft updated IE and made it perfect or 2) It loses all market share and better browsers take its place.

I'm not a web developer? http://jrgp.us http://tms.jrgp.org
Take a look around before you start making guesses based on the occasionally worthless things I say here...

Mind explaining why Firefox is a bad browser?

It's topics like these that remind me even though I have to wait to have sex... at least I won't die a virgin like jrgp.

Anyway browser looks sweet. Though I am not keen on beta browsers since FF3 was a pain for the longest time.

at least you still have hope gram

and jrgp i maintain that you are about as much a web developer as i am an entrepreneur, a professional sportsperson and a successful male model. and i wasn't referring to web developer side, i was referring to user side. if IE was that seriously flawed for the vast majority of users then people would have switched a long time ago.

What I like about Chrome is that it's still "beta" yet it's on par with Firefox backed up with best addons, and that's just Google's starting line!

I downloaded Chrome but I haven't used it yet -- last night while downloading I just assumed the Chrome's EULA would be something like that so it makes me feel guilty about even installing it. However, FireFox 3 has gotten a bit flabby in comparison with older versions so I'm feeling the =.= here.

*Downloads and installs on Windows XP*....

Whoa...this thing has the weirdest fecking GUI I've ever seen. It's pretty fast, but it's definitely a combination of every browser that exists now... not too original if you ask me.

Yeah, I read on slashdot a little while ago how it lets google do whatever they want with what you submit to sites, that's fecking BS. Until they get rid of that, I'm only using it to make sure my sites work correctly in it.

Except that if you look around, almost every single person who has heard of Chrome and is considering using it is not an IE user.  I don't know if  Chrome is going to take IE users or just shuffle around the non-IE users.
