Yeah...I've read the Wiki and spent around an hour reading the Slashdot comments on it... I'll check out the Linux version once it's released, but I don't know whether or not I'll actually switch to it yet.

I am very glad google made their own browser, though. It will definitely take more people away from IE. That should be every non-M$ browser maker's number one goal right now.

Except that if you look around, almost every single person who has heard of Chrome and is considering using it is not an IE user.  I don't know if  Chrome is going to take IE users or just shuffle around the non-IE users.
Well, it's only been out a day and a half. Geeky people have probably been following Chrome for a little while, expected its release, downloaded it and got their own opinions on it already. As soon as the news of this browser hits IE users, a bunch of them are destined to check it out and possibly stick with it.

I'm a big sucker for minimalist interfaces so Chrome has become my new favorite browser.  It does everything I need it to do without any needless clutter.  It's plenty fast and seems to be compatible with all the sites I frequent.

The main problem is there are many people using IE (even IE 5 and 6). And they're using it because they don't have any fucking idea what a different browser is. They think that IE is teh intrawebz. A great number of people using "intrawbz" are uneducated and have no idea about how it all really works.

The other problem with people using IE is that they're forced to use it at work, so they use it at home because they're used to it.  There are a surprisingly huge number of corporate/internal sites that only work in IE because they're made absolutely horribly

After the beta they better include addons and fix the scrolling

apart from those, this browser owns FF in everything FF could ever do

Heh. Not interested in Chrome yet. Give 'em some more time to develop it and see what it turns into.

As far as IE goes, I read that IE8 beta 2 takes up three times as many resources as IE7 and more than Windows XP does on its own. They really couldn't give nerds a bigger reason to hate it (/me points at Vista).

Also, PapaSurf's post pretty much sounds like it could've been manipulated by Google so as to advertise their browser. XD

Whoa...this thing has the weirdest fecking GUI I've ever seen. It's pretty fast, but it's definitely a combination of every browser that exists now... not too original if you ask me.
Why reinvent the wheel?

EDIT: Anyone else have trouble scrolling up with the mouse wheel?

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

I'm actually using chrome right now, have been for a couple hours. I really like how fast it is and how big the viewing window is :O

Its a little confusing however, but I like it for now.

i'm not even interested in downloading and trying it out. i'm very satisfied from my Opera browser, don't need anything else and for sure not when it's on a beta status.

I'm not having any problems with the scrolling so far, though it's more like jerking than actual scrolling. "Inspect element" feature is pretty neat. Only gripe is the bookmark access location; the upper right location feels really weird-ass. The lack of the junk at the top is also takes some getting used to. I'm loving the reduced memory footprint though. ^^

Well if google had any interest in manipulating me to spread their products, I'd let them do whatever they wanted :)

Really tho, I have almost no gripes with the browser.  It's everything I need and nothing I don't.  Smooth scrolling would be cool, but the chances of that not being added in the near future is nil.  As a beta, it's faster, smaller, and more stable than most release browsers out there.

Now all we need to do is wait for Google to make their own OS, computer hardware, go into the digital media realm with cell phones and Blackberry-like devices and start taking over the rest of the world. The Google food brand, Google gas stations, Google sports equipment, Google firearms/military technology...

Actually..umm... They use their own custom version of Linux (Gububuntu, I think) for their workstations and are developing a Linux based OS for portable devices... Google Android.

Yeah... they'll own many of the world's industries within a few years.
