As far as IE goes, I read that IE8 beta 2 takes up three times as many resources as IE7 and more than Windows XP does on its own. They really couldn't give nerds a bigger reason to hate it (/me points at Vista).

Memory is there to be used. I'd prefer a program (maybe, or even especially an operating system for that matter) to use the available memory to speed things up.
You don't have gigabytes of memory just so you can keep it empty. It's there to be used. If your memory is full, it should mean that something's being done right.

Starting in this thread late, but I think many people here are just full of crap.

First off, while there are exploits for Chrome, they are no more serious than known exploits for non-experimental (release) versions of IE and Firefox. The bugs in Chrome are actually few and far between.

Each tab and plugin in Chrome is a PROCESS. That means that web developers (like myself) can build more massive web apps without worrying about locking up the browser. Screw reloading the browser and my 10 open tabs when a single page or flash app crashes

Also because each tab is a PROCESS, it almost totally eliminates the memory eating problem. Tab closed? BOOM! Memory freed!

Google uses its crawler to test sites with Chrome before each release. Notice that it loads our forum flawlessly? Yeah... not to mention every other site I've visited.

Personally I am relieved to see this much-needed innovation in the browser market. The Firefox team (and M$, god willing) should get a clue and use this inspiration to their advantage. For more features check out the book

i have issues with youtube, it loads and shit faster than in every other browser but the scrolling is crap and when you give the browser focus again (i.e. minimize => restore or full screen => normal) it hangs for a good 50 seconds then continues as usual

The worse thing about it is that when you right click a text area it selects the line above where you clicked, making it hard to past text into the right place, and often screws up your paragraph >_>

And it wont scroll up with a touchpad.

P.S,  having many tabs open uses more memor than it would in firefox or IE, so even though tabs are managed better for performance, they will take up more when you stack them up a bit
