Max Payne
« on: September 08, 2008, 09:09:02 pm »
I played the Max Payne games and I thought they were alright. I dont remember finishing them though.

Yesterday I saw the Max Payne movie trailer. Someone explain to me why there are demons flying everywhere. I thought I was watching a trailer for a Constantine remake.

Maybe they're part of his subconscious or something. That's what I'm telling myself so I can at least keep some shred of hope that the games I love aren't being systematically made into bad movies one-by-one.

One another note, Olga Kurylenko is supposedly going to be it in :D

I just watched the trailer... They've fecked up big time.

It's absolutely preposterous! I suppose I must have missed the part in the games where you fight mythical creatures. I was too busy killing crackheads, cleaners and the mafia like you're supposed to.

I'm hoping that they are hallucinations or something along those lines. It's not difficult to stay faithful to the games about a hard-boiled maverick cop with nothing to lose who's addicted to pain killers.

Uh...unless I watched a different trailer, it didn't seem like there were "demons flying around everywhere".  From what you made it sound like, he'd be shooting the damn things.

Methinks some Hollywood person tried to read a little too much into the original storyline and tried to bridge the gap to people who haven't played the game with a convenient medium, i.e. demons in regards to ones past.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams it is
still a beautiful world.  Strive to be happy.

OH I just remembered. Valkyr is the name of a drug that the games plot revolves around. That still doesnt justify putting ACTUAL Valkyries in the movie.

Valkyries aren't demons. :)

I really hope so. Seems the only way including demons wouldn't be a complete feck up. And dear Max HAS been known to go a little mental when injected with that serum. man, I used to hate that level where you have to figure out the right path, and that annoying spooky kid is crying.

As for the film, I hope they keep the right atmosphere, the one in the game, 'cause that is just awesome. Let's see...

Due to the fact that I have never played any Max Payne game, I have no idea what to expect from this movie. But from the trailer, it seems a whole lot like the Punisher movie. In the whole Oh dear it seems my family has died, now to do rediculusly unrealistic awesome fight scenes that are thin on the whole "plot". But that is just from the posted trailer.

It's a lot deeper than that, trust me. Although, yes, there will (hopefully) be bullet time and dodging at unrealistic angles and opportunities to dispatch henchmen.

I played Max Payne 2 over and over again, and with many different mods to keep it fresh. Unfortunately, I wiped my hard drive 2 months ago, and now one of the two install CDs is too scratched to use anymore. ;_;

Valkyr was the drug that Horne cooked up in the first game. It caused hallucinations and other weird garbage to occur, but Valkyr is not represented by demons or other mystical creatures anywhere in the game. If it is, I will be disappointed. This is one of the few games that is deserving of a movie version, as long as the right person is directing it.

I only played one level of the original and decided this revenge game is not for me. Following a trail of your child's blood with screams in 5.1 surround sound, is not my idea of a fun game.

That would be the first level which is about a minute of gameplay. Do you have any patience at all?

I dont think it was the first level...
It took me a few mins to get through the room.

Nope, that was the prologue. You're in it immediately after starting the game.

I think Strangle Hold was the better game than Max Payne's... No offence rainbow :D

Well, it was too creepy for my liking. Voices in 5.1 will make you shit your pants! Try playing Doom 3 in 5.1. That little girl's voice will make you hair stand on end.

Max Payne is better than WarCraft though. Wait, is this relevant?

Too bad that Mark Wahlburg looks nothing like Max Payne. Mila Kunis looks fairly like Mona, a little too young though.

"Recently, Wahlberg was revealed to be playing the titular character in the Max Payne film based off of the games. Even though he is playing the character in the film, however, he has stated that he is not going to play the games."

thats so annoying
