Default map discussion

There isn't really much discussion going on to do with the default maps, apart from elspec's sig maybe and some private discussions.

I think that the mappers should discuss maps that should be removed/added from/to the default line-up.
Also discuss things that could be improved on default maps.

Basically anything that is related to default maps, discuss here.

Yep, both of Wraithlike's map in my sig REALLY should be default.  My Vicissitude can be removed, I couldn't care a stinky orgy fest about it. ;D

And I'll as well be making a compilation thread this weekend if I don't end up forgetting, any map in the list will do well enough as default.

And I forgot to mention some certain maps that some certain ****-faced ****s suggested.  Veoto, crappy polygon structure, laggy like **** and completely uninteresting layout.  INF_Industrial, if you like this map, then you're a disgrace to humankind and it would be best to just jump off the edge of a building.  All the HTF maps except for the ones made by Keron Cyst.  Yeah, all of them can be removed.

In my view it's the most important thing in new version that we take some great maps there. The new maps are the thing which could make the version really better, cos there's little what developers do for basic soldat gameplay. Ok, bugfixing is a great thing, making soldat less frustrating but the maps are the thing which could make soldat a lot funnier.

I think it's hard to have discussion about default maps. We can discuss easily about soldat gather maps. But there are a lot of new great maps that  haven't been tested so much.

If there is someone who is having time/interest to run maptesting team. We need a server and team for maptest. I could take a part if someone got a server.

But there will be always problem that there will be many different opinions to which maps should be granted default, it might make things messy.

I guess after all it's very small group of betatesters/admins who decide which maps soldat takes in. Like now the soldat beta has new maps but nobody seems to know who has chosen them.

if the maptesting team really exists, they could play, and then just write how's the gameplay of the map. then that group of peopple who has chosen the maps can make theyr decision more accurate

And have Soldat became one of the crappiest-looking games of all time?

I will agree, his maps have very nice gameplay, but they look like utter-crap.  ctf_Roundabout2 is a very nice map though, very well balanced.  It should still be at the Gather server.

mar77a's maps calls for a remake. Exact polygon placement, though, or you'll be off on mar77a's gameplay by about .08974935.

Well, I think that Tae should be default, but you have to take in account that R/S players play too. I don't think that this will suit these players as the other default maps do. But it would be nice to see something different. The maps elspec said would be nice, eyeball could be a good new addition also. My closest chance would be Aksis or waterfall if I could make it work on it a lot more but I doubt it.

As for DM, it would be nice to have a different Airpirates.

And hopefully's Enesce's radio thing can wake up the maps of HTF since it can help with the vital Teamwork aspect of that particular mode.

As long as there are new maps, I'll be happy with the new version.

soldat://server.selfkill.com:35874/earth is my server's ip, feel free to send me your maps and join #soldat.mapping on irc to get enough guys for a test. SuoW, Jericho, Biggles and a few others have the adminlog so its more comfortable.
Anyways, Id take part but Im going to move house on Saturday and I dont know when I will have internet so you better send me your maps until friday evening.
