Mic and sound problems

Well, my question is, how can I make it so I don't hear what I say into the mic? Because any time I say somethin into my mic, tap it, or just blow into it I hear it every goddamn time

click on the little speaker icon at the bottom right of your screen, in the system tray next to your clock. This'll open up windows volume control.

In there, mute the microphone.

I believe it only mutes -- get this -- the output of the input of the mic. Meaning it won't repeat anything you do and say into the mic. But it shouldn't mute the mic itself.

I now this isn't much help, but why does it bother you? I think it does it on purpose so you know when your talking. Are you running vista or xp, in vista I am pretty sure there is a no echo button in the taskbar sound controller thing.

Running on Windows XP (as long as I'm not forced to I will NOT install Vista). Well, what is happening is it does echo but in such a way that it goes into high pitched sounds
