My Polyworks doesn´t work :(

Hey Guys, I´ve got a problem with the Polyworks When I start Polyworks there comes a message, I´ve to check ok  and then Polyworks is down without starting. I have Windows Vista and I tried even starting as Admin and ReInstall, but the problem remains, what shall I do?

I had the same problem. Look at the error message, and whatever file is missing, you have to search it on google and download it. Polyworks is much better than mapmaker and would be worth the download

Tell us what the error message is.  jerich's solution is probably not the best way to do it, there is a better way.

Please give us the entire error message you are getting.

following error-message comes everytime: "Die Anwendung konnte nicht gestartet werden, weil dx8vb.dll nicht gefunden wurde. Neuinstallation der Anwendung könnte das Problem beheben" (Thats´s like this caus I´m german) On english (a lil bit shorter): "The Application couldn´t star bevause dx8vb.dll wasn´t found. ReInstall of the Application could serve the problem."

download this file and put it in your c:\system\system32 directory. should do the trick.
also to make sure it will work, restart ur comp

Right... look at the top of any page of these forums, you should see some tabs and among these there is "Search".

The problem remains, got all u said I need from this page, but now the box says that comdlg32.ocx is not correctly registered (a file is missing or invalid). After downloading a file I ever started my laptop new and I hate it now
I ask realy myself wether I should stay by Mapmaker, by now it´s a good prog for me Maybe u could tell me why Poly is better than Mapmaker (except screening ) so that I can understand why I do all this things just for  changing the prog

Then follow the staps from the link I gave you again. What you have to do is register "comdlg32.ocx" now.

Did realy what u said, now Poly starts, but now there comes the second message u described, but cmd says, that I should assign comdlg32.ocx in the systemcontrol, but I dont know where in this, I got this sh*t  Vista, and I think that it´s crime to publish something like that SHIT of a PROG!!!

Well, Polyworks is known to have isuess with Vista, but for many people it works well.

So u cannot help me?  crap it´s the evil himself ... vista sucks, when I could (and I can not, caus it´s the CD of my father) I would throw it away, hopefully so far that noone else could use this shit again ...
