it means you will see when you've made a mess of crap (oversized, undersized etc.)
it means expand starting from petite
it means start exercising the details separately before you do a whole all at once

Ok guys, I have a sketch collection here, and they all suck : D

Two progresses:
Lulz1
Lulz2

And another thing I'd like to say is that I'm just working on the pose that Espadon suggested, on and off. And before someone says "lulz you has obsession with unreal personzzz", yes, yes I do but it isn't really making your comment constructive is it? I just need to pratice drawing the female anime anatomy, and she's a good character to start with :>

I got a question, and I'm not trying to offend you.
Any particular reason your doing this, just for the fun of it, hoping to make a career of it, schoolwork, or what? Because this seems sort of random.

Scan10 is very good.

Don't worry about it. Anyone who has a problem with it has too much time on their hands which they should use to do something productive in their lives instead of laming someone else who is a thousand miles away.

I'm trying to take art seriously, which I haven't been doing for the past few years. :)

Besides, this isn't the only style I can do. If you want to see the other works that I've done, it's here.

Looking at this thread, and looking at your drawings from the start your greatly improving i love it! Some corrections, in scan0011 the girl with her back showing doesn't seem right, i think her arms aren't position properly, her arms should be where it is in scan0010 and her face seems a bit flat imo. I loved the picture on the bottom right of scan0011, thought it was excellent, although just get and eraser and erase her chin a bit and go over it, it looks like she has a beard. Keep up the practice :D

Personally I wouldn't suggest putting the majority of your efforts into this right away. Side project yes, but if you want to learn art seriously you need to practice with stuff that normally won't seem interesting. Your job is to learn how to make it interesting. Sounds kind of wacko but trust me. Do landscapes and still lifes. If you're having trouble with getting your form proportions right it just means you need more practice with fundamental forms, you you might need to find some cones/spheres/prisms/etc and do a few 18x24s of groups of them.

The main issue with manga style is that it's a deceptively simple method. Many people think it's a shortcut because overall the forms are, ah, formulaic. Few people realize that the famous manga artists like Sadamoto have an extremely well-founded base in traditional art.

My suggestion is to really move out of your comfort zone and that stupid 'relevance zone' that everyone gets stuck in. As I said above, I'm not telling you to stop drawing what you're interested in, but if you focus purely on that without the fundamentals first your skills will end up 'lopsided' and you won't achieve the artistic freedom that will allow you to draw anything you want however you imagine it.

Addendum: Learn to work big. I hated it at first because my control was so weak but after a while you'll learn how to really control your arm. Work in LONG lines, don't make those short scritchy-scratch scrooge lines like most of the wankers you see. You'll probably end up drawing arcs like I did at first but with practice you can make yourself able to freehand relatively straight lines blah blah blah blah just learn to work big @_@ don't worry if the paper can't fit into the scanner lulz

Do you guys have any good source links?

I don't want to even draw anime until I understand the basic fundamentals of drawing. I'm to work hard at it. I made some sketches, but they seem a but out of proportion.

Start with shapes, simple shapes, experiment with different body sizes, shapes, different shaped heads. I find myself drawing random things around my house just to get familiar with things.

I think your drawings are definitely getting better. I took a look at your sheezy art thing and you've got some nice stuff.

Good luck ;D

Btw, which manga is the character you're drawing from?

mmm, those dummy body structures are actually better than the complete drawings themselves, I still don't know what is so awkward about them catgirls, but some proportions maybe (not all of course)
I know where a cat's tail is ffs

Ok, I did a drawing with as little of the [annoying?] skritch-skritch drawing style as possible. I was kind of using that style for speed and accuracy on most of my drawings. But anyway...here's my attempt

why such a huge handle for a little dagger that doesn't even poke out the back of the trench coat?

Very nice, all is great except for the head, it's squashed and too small, it looks irregular.

It's meant to be a sword...but still, it kinda disappears into nowhere, as was pointed out.

I'm guessing it was drawn from looking at another picture?  Even so, it's good practice, and not too shabby at that.  One of the most annoying things I ran into was trying to get clothing (and folds) to look good.
