No need to learn any book, just place the folder in your Soldat/Mods folder and execute the Soldat Mod Starter icon into the /Soldat folder, then select it and press: Run modded game.

The best tutorial is:

-don't use tutorials
-try to make something 1st and then ask for help and contructive critique
-don't resize (not recommended)
-practice makes perfect
-start with outlines

That's it. You won't need anything else to be honest. The best way is to make things alone. Trust me. Good luck.

I learned off a shading tutorial, and then kinda developed my own shading technique from that.

Dairy, I understand the point of you saying not to use tuts to develop your style, but I think depends if you hang off tutorials and try to make that style of weapon or you treat it as what it really is, a helping guide (not a training session)

If you're going to resize, at least touch it up before posting it. Redo the obvious artifacts of shrinking and add a black outline so it looks good ingame. (It makes a big difference)

Also, if you have to zoom in to tell a weapon's shaded, it needs more contrast. If you have photoshop or a clone, upping contrast is a nice help, although high powered programs really aren't a must for images as small as Soldat weapons.
