How to make a topic
« on: October 11, 2008, 03:28:40 pm »
Alright, I haven't posted a topic in awhile, but you people seriously need to step it up.

I haven't posted for awhile because all these topics are just plain stupid.

Topics like these, are awesome:

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=30244.0

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=30334.0

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=30406.0

When people make topics like these:

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=30411.0

http://forums.soldat.pl/index.php?topic=30394.0

It makes me wonder what the feck these people are trying to prove.

Here I am, sitting on a chair in front of my computer and when I'm reading something about "philosophy" or "religion", I start to wonder why do I even bother to start up my computer, click on firefox and then type in forums.soldat.pl just to find something dumb in my face.  People like PopeJohnPaul are just waiting to get ass raped.

Post a topic that most of the people can relate to.

Some 13 - 15 year old's don't even understand that hypnotic stuff, because the poster is trying to explain it like some kind of scientist. >.>

What are you trying to prove in this topic? Isn't this a little hypocritical?

You are contributing to the threads that people cannot engage with. Start an interesting debate instead of fueling the fire.

People that need help is fine, but when people are saying something about religion or mysticism etc. thats when it gets pointless. What am I trying to prove? I'm trying to prove that people can make better topics then the ones that we currently have.

Making point about philosophy/religion unrealistic because there no many things that can be said, "my point is better", "no mine is" etc.

There's only one reason for this topic, and it's because people make worthless ones.  So instead of people making worthless threads, I made one thread that shows people what NOT to debate about.  Instead of having many worthless debating topics.

I post about my interests, if there are others who want to talk they can. You can either decide to join in, learn a bit, maybe teach some. You can also decide to not post at all about it. If you find it relaxing to read those topics, then you can stick to those.

In certain logical frames, there are lots of things you can say about a persons beliefs. Not only that, it can have a solid backing in logic and if they dont accept and offer no other refutation then its stops. A point of an argument isn't to win, its to explore ideas.

Smegma, it's not really you, I was trying to point out that there's some people out there that make too religious or too optimistic topics.

I agree with you there, about how people explore ideas instead of a loss/win theme.  People like mangled* though... do it the other way around.

I don't bother looking at the topics about religion. People just keeping making topics about it, one after another. It gets tedious when you log in and find that the majority of replies at the bottom of the index page is about Religion. I'm not saying that I don't like them, it's just that nobody can really make a point that is convincing enough to other people so the topic can be brought to a close. It's fundamentally endless.

I think he has a legitimate point.

Mangled is a douche so his opinion is meaningless. Farah if you're going to nitpick over his examples while ignoring the point you might as well leave now.

Ds here has found some interesting topics that are some of the best recent topics, and then there are the really boring stupid topics like spam and then stupid topics arguing over moot points or discussing unbearably boring philosophy, that particular topic had a double whammy.

Religion topics on their own aren't even that bad, its the people in them, mangled uses it to be a massive prick, some people think they can convert each other, and even more think they can show off their word of the day and look extra smart.

We never said it sucks, go up to my topic or blue-ninja's post and tell me where the hell you found "suck".

I'm serious about this, there are more interesting topics than the ones posted.  There's millions.

a-four-year-old, thank you for understanding my point.  Your probably the only reason I stick around here.

I understand the point of this topic, and it's always applied to SF to be honest! But this guy's definition of AWESOME TOPIC is pretty bad!

If you don't want to try and understand there posts, you don't have to. You can always ask questions to try and stop the confusion, if you want.

or you could make some sense to begin with. I figure if you can't make a post someone could understand easily enough your opinion doesn't matter enough to warrant clarification

I'm not too clear on this part.

I explain things the clearest way I know how and I believe they are pretty clear. If you don't know where to start, this is not my fault.

Being philosophical doesn't help you get on your high horse. Isn't that the whole point of what Ds dude is trying to say?

I could make a topic about why trolls are the unsung heroes of the internet, and we'd get two factions: people that come here to glorify trolls, and people who come here to whine about trolls. Unfortunately, the latter would probably apply the most, and the topic would get locked.
