Come'on guys, let's make more useless political and physcological debates on a gaming forum!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a lot like saying "gym equipment should not be produced because the majority of society doesn't use it"?

Yes, you may have a good point in that there are definitely criteria to take into account when it comes to "good" or "bad" threads, but you're being very subjective. As this thread has already demonstrated, and as should be common sense, people's interests differ. Just because the average early teenager would not find a cozy home in a thread discussing welfare or mysticism does not mean that said thread holds no purpose or meaning.

It's like products in the real world. Many are available, and although you may think that some products are downright stupid, others may think the complete opposite. You don't have to invest in these products or services, but just because they hold no importance to you doesn't mean that that holds true for everyone.

That's why being a moderator is difficult troublesome, to be honest. I tend to force myself to read threads that I take no interest in just to make sure that no one is fecking around too much. However, you don't have to do that, and so I don't expect you to whine about it.

Edit: No one here expects you to read a post of theirs and be amazed by their intellectual prowess. Those who start threads about topics that require an IQ higher than 70 to discuss do it because they have opinions to share, lessons to teach, potential lessons to learn, etc. They also have their own reason for typing with a highly variate vocabulary and whatnot. For some, it's just a habit. For others, it's an attempt to become a little more sophisticated than your average, mundane person. Either way, no one is forcing you to give them acknowledgment or asking you to lift yourself to their level. If you so wish, stick to what you feel is comfortable. No one is demanding that you do otherwise.

No, it's really not. I made that seem like a much larger struggle than it is. But that only adds to the point:

1) It's really not such a harsh punishment to read things you take no interest in.
2) No one is actually forcing you to do so. That is your freedom. Do not intrude on the freedom of others.

or you could make some sense to begin with. I figure if you can't make a post someone could understand easily enough your opinion doesn't matter enough to warrant clarification

I'm not too clear on this part.

I explain things the clearest way I know how and I believe they are pretty clear. If you don't know where to start, this is not my fault.
you're not the primary target here, you're generally short and direct when others ramble on and manage to say nothing in multiple paragraphs

Kazuki I clearly understand your principles.  Though isn't it true that in most religious or political topics there's at least one person there to say something smart when it doesn't mean anything at all?

Although this is probably true, they're not breaking rules, and most times, end up being ignored if their statement holds no significance.

Understood.  Although I admit, there have been more entertaining topics then there were.

I'm liking your Rock band 2/World Tour discussion. ;)

Hahah. Thanks. I hope the topics of interest continue.

Anyway, like I said, you do bring up a good point, but I think that you can't really try to change someone's ways if their actions don't necessarily affect you. I'm not going to lock this thread, but that's as far as I'm going to get involved.

Alright, I understand.  You do make a good point, its another person's actions.  Not mine.

Post a topic most people can relate to. Like catgirls.
/thread

Although I do agree there are some random frickin' topics around here sometimes. But hey, that is why I come here, to leave in disgust or laugh at the randomness.

I just noticed that the lniks that are "good" are apparently those unserious ones and the "bad" are the serious ones.

Anyway,

I believe debating isn't about winning, nor is it about forcing your point down someone's throat. Debating is a way to understand the thoughts of others, to explore new ideas, ultimately become wiser when making decisions etc. The whole point is the type of people who participate. You have to be clear on what the topic is about before you post, and you are simply there to give an opinion.

Notice that I never post in some topics - because I simply don't understand what's going on or it simply doesn't interest me.

A post's value is based on what it can bring to the forum community, not what it does for you personally.  Telling us "this post is good because I like it and this one is bad because I don't" is pretty darn arrogant, if you ask me, and "I don't understand the topic" is a horrible reason for saying something is bad.  The beauty of a forum is that you don't HAVE to participate in discussions that you don't want to.  If someone posts a topic you can't relate to, ignore it! Just let the rest of us have an intelligent discussion in the meantime.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Depends, we don't want to have a topic that goes overboard and gets 1,000 views, but only 4 posts.

True, we have our freedom to post, but we also can't have topics so extreme that no one posts. Then the topic is pointless. But I don't believe these forums are like that - there's bound to be people who will post quite a lot and explain their points really clearly and the topics aren't really that extreme.

Wouldn't be much of a forum if nobody could post...
