Favorite Secondary

Out of sheer curiosity, what is your favorite secondary weapon? I know it's been asked before but forumers change.

I have a feeling you're going to be getting a lot of knife votes.

The fact that it's (supposed to be) a one hit kill and that you can switch to and throw it so fast is great. Also, if you've gotten the arc and throwing power of the knife down, it's range can be an entire screen.

I would say LAW, simply because it's a 1 shot, you must be decent to use it. If you miss, you will end up getting killed on a reload. Aside from that, the ricochet is very useful if you can get it "mastered."

LAW is my fav but I'm using knife on most maps (much more reliable..)

Knife for the win, I use rush guns so knife goes well with that.
I also knife with barrett for the heck of it.

LAW. Despite having start up time, it can be a really great weapon for quick kills. I'm not very accurate so I mainly use it where there isn't much open space. However if I get to kill someone far away (I'm not talking about 15 screens away) it is oh so satisfying

The knife is pretty tight, although I'm not too good with it yet, mainly because I can't throw it accurately to save my life.

Depends on the map and my current primary; almost never the chainsaw. Apart from that it's a three way split between the others.

My vote must go to the USSOCOM. It is very fast and has saved my life on numerous occasions. I do not like the LAW simply because you must be still to use. My aim with the knife is horrible, so I don't rely on it too much. The chainsaw is only useful in small maps. The USSOCOM is a quick way to get a kill when your M79 or Barrett is empty.

Well, that's naturally particular to each person. For me knife is better. As much as I enjoy the LAW, it looses some of its appeal from the fact that I have to compromise height advantage, speed advantage, etc., to use it.

I like the knife, it's so versatile in most situations, except for long, low-ceilinged tunnels like ctf_equinox, which compromises the height advantage the knife needs to be able to kill quickly and from a relatively safe distance. In close quarters though, it's extremely adept and can take on a sawer in those kind of places. More useful when you're inside the sawer's range, behind the tip of the saw, so you can stab him when you have the chance.

As much as I like the knife, I can't really use it in zombie servers, as the knife could easily get lost in all the chainsaw weapons strewn on the ground. Once when you throw it, it's pretty much a one-shot deal and good luck getting it back.

Honestly all the secondaries are awesome, its just that some secondaries are better suited for certain primaries and map selections. Wide and expansive maps can have AK + LAW or Ret + Socom, or more. Smaller maps can have HK + Knife or M79 + Chainsaw.

In short, there really is no best secondary (or primary) so i can't vote on a 'favorite'.

Let's see... Vying for first place would be the knife and the LAW.

The knife is extremely functional, an amazing short and medium range weapon.

The LAW has incredible range and I am able to ricochet with it quite effectively, remaining safe from the enemy while simultaneously surprising him/her with death.

The only cause of my using a USSOCOM is boredom.

The chainsaw is good for fun and if the map is Warehouse.

my favorite is saw because it takes skill to use and if you learn how to use it good you will become very skilled in soldat. Saw is my favorite weapon period, and i love playing in Saw and LAW. Also,if you know how to prone, and time it just right, you can eat a law every time. It takes pure skill to be a master with saw

I personally like in the order: Socom, Chainsaw, LAW, Knife. So I voted the USSOCOM pistol.



The reason why I picked the Socom is because I find it reliable in some situations, even though I may not always use it often or extremely well. I hate to discover my primary runs out of ammo and the reload is too long and by the time it's loaded, my enemy escapes. I can understand why Socom is very unpopular - it's just a dull pistol and can't kill in single shots and seems weak - but I like it for the fact that unlike the Knife, I don't have to worry about picking it up, and it has some range capability. It also has a really fast reload - and it sounds good.

Chainsaw comes next - it's incredibly fun to go in melee and saw people. It's really satisfying to rush in with that speed, sweep through enemy lines and see that blood and hear the sound of that chainsaw slicing through bodies. Even better if you can catch your enemy by surprise or foil their evasion. And unlike most games, Soldat's melee weapon Chainsaw can kill in a single hit. What I dislike is the fact that the chainsaw needs to be "reloaded", and sometimes I find it frustrating that my enemy gets out of my reach for both my primary weapon and the saw. I'm not really a good sawer but it is a fun weapon.

The LAW is a good secondary, though I'm not really good at it. It has a really good range and can be used for nice artillery shots - kind of like a mini-Barrett mixed together with the M79. What I dislike is that it has a really long reload (I won't be able to rely on it when I need it VERY early even before the reload is done) and must be used on the ground crouched/proned (I tend to go flying in the air more than staying on the ground), and sometimes I find the startup time a little long.

Although the Knife is a very popular weapon due to its efficiency, I can't aim with the Knife (not a good reason, but ya... that's why I don't use it) and personally, I find pulling out a knife and throwing it pretty dull (though the sound of drawing out of the Knife sounds cool). What I really dislike is that, I have to go look for the knife when I throw it. I prefer to be able to keep my secondary even after using it, rather than using and risk losing it at the same time.



If you think about it, the Socom is the easiest secondary to use, but is actually one of the hardest to master - a primary is bound to be superior to the Socom and you mustn't miss. Knife is pretty easy to use and is easy to master and also highly efficient. Chainsaw is easy to use, but also one of the most difficult to master like the Socom. LAW is on the average-hard side.
